The backup point guard expectedly agreed to a sign-and-trade deal Wednesday with the Washington Wizards, netting him a three-year, $62 million deal, according to multiple reports.
The transaction is part of a five-team deal, which will return to the Nets a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 draft swap from the Wizards, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Dinwiddie’s departure was all but inevitable after Brooklyn’s signing of Patty Mills on Tuesday. Mills, also a point guard, signed a two-year, $12 million deal that pushed the Nets’ projected tax bill from $92.6 million to $121.8 million according to former Nets assistant GM Bobby Marks, now with ESPN.

The 28-year-old Dinwiddie played just three games last season because of a torn ACL, but averaged 14.3 points, 5.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 274 games with the Nets.
