During the 2020 campaign, when Joe Biden wasn't hiding out in his Delaware basement, he often walked on stage to the Staple Singers' song "We the People." The theme of the song was "unity," but his government does the exact opposite: it promotes division, class warfare, groupthink, racially charged rhetoric, and brazen attempts to censor.

Love him or hate him, or feel something in between, Trump was more true to the spirit of his 2016 song, "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister, than Biden was to his.

Ross Perot, an independent and oddball presidential candidate in 1992, chose Patsy Cline's song "Crazy" as his campaign song.

In 1982, when I was 41 years old, I ran for a seat in Congress as a candidate for a big party. I didn't have a campaign song, so I lost to the person who was already in office. There might have been a link. If I were running today, I think I would choose "Do You Hear the People Sing?" from the 2012 movie Les Miserables.

If my opponent was a leftist or "progressive" (Is there a difference? ), I would love to pick a song for his campaign. He or she would probably disagree, but I'm pretty sure that the Beatles song "Taxman" from 1966 would be great.

The setting in which George Harrison wrote the words to "Taxman" is very important to the meaning of the song. In 1966, when the Beatles became famous all over the world, they were suddenly put into the top income tax rate in Britain, which was 90%. Harold Wilson, the new Labour Party Prime Minister, added another 5% super-tax. This meant that the young artists owed almost all of the money they made to an organization that had almost nothing to do with making music.

The Fab Four got a good idea of what John Lennon meant when he talked about a world with "no possessions." They almost went broke because Wilson's taxes were so high. Paul, John, George, and Ringo's accountant told them, "Two of you are close to being bankrupt, and the other two could soon be." It's clear why they wrote these lyrics:

Now my advice for those who die:

Declare the pennies on your eyes!

High-income people didn't see a big drop in their tax rates until Margaret Thatcher was in office. She cut those rates in half, which helped turn Britain from "the sick man of Europe" under "democratic socialism" back into an economic growth engine.

Campaign songs are a part of politics, but I still find it hard to sing about government, even if the tune is catchy. Given how the government usually acts and all the bad things that come with having a lot of power, I find it more normal to gag. But I could sing this song about government like a bird.

In every country that has moved toward socialism the phase of the development in which socialism becomes a determining influence on politics has been preceded for many years by a period during which socialist ideals governed the thinking of the more active intellectuals. In Germany this stage had been reached toward the end of the last century; in England and France, about the time of the first World War. To the casual observer it would seem as if the United States had reached this phase after World War II and that the attraction of a planned and directed economic system is now as strong among the American intellectuals as it ever was among their German or English fellows. Experience suggests that once this phase has been reached it is merely a question of time until the views now held by the intellectuals become the governing force of politics.

Hayek did not mean smart or even educated people when he said "intellectuals." What he meant by "secondhand dealers in ideas" was people whose job, vocation, or obsessive hobby was to talk about and analyze the ideas of others and advocate for one or more of these great systems to be put into place. Intellectuals always do things because they think it will lead to good things. Autocrats may use ideas to get power, but intellectuals are true supporters. This is why thinkers are good at what they do.

How does someone become a "intellectual?" Hayek says that their position or part in society as a broker or intermediary gives them a big advantage when it comes to spreading ideas that seem to come from a reliable source. He says that what he means is:

journalists, teachers, ministers, lecturers, publicists, radio commentators, writers of fiction, cartoonists, and artists,” but also professionals, “such as scientists and doctors, who through their habitual intercourse with the printed word become carriers of new ideas outside their own fields and who, because of their expert knowledge on their own subjects, are listened to with respect on most others. (emphasis added)

Robert Nozick wrote the famous essay "Why Do Intellectuals Oppose Capitalism?" nearly fifty years later. It's worth reading the whole thing, but the main point can be summed up in one name: Al Czervik, the poor but wealthy real estate developer from the movie "Caddyshack." (If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch this short movie).  Nozick says that thinkers have always been nerdy kids who did well in school. People like Al Czervik were sitting in the back of the room and playing cards. But now they run their own businesses and sell cars or real estate. Any system that rewards people for being businesses instead of getting good grades and helping the teacher clean the erasers after class is obviously unfair.

Intellectuals think that experts and technocrats like themselves (or how they think of themselves) will be in charge in a socialist government. In fact, the smart people are wrong in two ways: First, people who make things worth having should get paid more than people who can quote "great thinkers" word for word, especially now that we have GoogleTM. But even more important, there isn't a single case in the history of real socialist governments, which run countries, that makes us think that anyone other than violent thugs and dictators will be in charge. Hayek said that "the worst get on top" in socialism. The smart people are rounded up and killed.

Still, thinkers are smart, that much is true. Why do they fall for this seductive horse over and over again? The other day I was listening to Bob Dylan when I suddenly realized that I had heard some of his words a thousand times but never really understood them. Dylan asks in "Blowin' in the Wind," a song he wrote in 1963, "Yes, and how many times must the cannonballs fly | Before they are banned for good?"  How will you stop people from using cannonballs if no one has any?

The answer seems to be that the good people, the smart people, and the thinkers will have the cannonballs and make sure that the rest of us don't use them.  Libertarians tend to think that everyone has the right to defend themselves. thinkers, on the other hand, think that the problem will be solved if everyone loses the right to defend themselves and power is given to thinkers. And since capitalism spreads power among the many people who get rich, it needs to be replaced with a system that keeps power in fewer hands.

What it comes down to is this: in capitalism, wealth is the power to get things and services that I want. This kind of power is not "zero sum," because Al Czervik, you, and I can all have it. Al Czervik might have more money than you or me, but we can all be rich.

But intellectuals like socialism, which turns the causal line around. Under capitalism, having money gives you power and lets you buy what you want. But under socialism, having power gives you money. Party apparatchiks and technical functionaries have a lot of power over how things are made and how they get to people. But political power, which is what I mean by "power," is always a zero-sum game. If the intellectual class has it, you and I don't. And Al Czervik drives a trash truck because he insulted a smart person in fourth grade, and the smart person told his father, who was the party boss. When businesses are owned by the government and run by the government, comparing standing becomes important. If I'm strong, then you're not. Socialism is a way to make people jealous because it is based on the idea that "elites"—"people who are educated, like me"—will come out on top.

Andoh later issued a quasi-apology after her comment provoked vehement responses from viewers.

“I think I upset a few people yesterday,” she reportedly said on BBC Radio 4’s Sunday morning show with Paddy O’Connell.

“I was talking about the day and how marvellous it was and then looking at the balcony at the end and suddenly going: “Oh it’s so white!” because the day had been so mixed and I didn’t mean to upset anybody.”

Elliot Page, who used to be Ellen Page, also attacked Pratt by saying that he goes to a church that is "well-known for being anti-LGBTQ."

In 2019, the media attacked Pratt for daring to wear a t-shirt with a Gadsden Flag "Don't Tread On Me" snake on it. He was called a "white supremacist" for wearing the image from the American Revolutionary War.

Success is also the best way to get even.

The Pratt-led, non-woke Super Mario Bros came out the first week of April. It was the first film of 2023 to make more than $1 billion, and Guardians has already made more than $280 million in just one weekend.

Because of all the noise, a worried teacher and another adult came into the hallway to talk to the student and tell her to move away.

As the student kept asking for her cell phone back, it didn't seem like anyone cared that the teacher had been hit..

“Can I get my phone?” the student repeated. “Can I get my phone? Can I get my phone? I need my phone!”

Off-camera, another student pointed out the absurdity of the attack saying, “over a phone? This shit is crazy.”

The Metro Nashville Public Schools said the student’s action “represents a serious violation of law and our school policies” and has “received appropriate disciplinary consequences.”

The Reddit user who uploaded the video said this is the second time this teacher has been assaulted during the school year. Two months ago, he was punched in the face for taking away a student’s phone during a test.

Attacks on teachers have become a common news headline, and just last week, Breitbart reported that a Texas vice principal was sent to the hospital for trying to break up a fight between two students. Instead of students coming to her aid, a mob quickly ensued with the students screaming, “Everybody kick that ho!”

Laurie Langreo of Education Week wrote that teachers think it was hard for students to switch from learning at home during the pandemic to learning in the classroom afterward.

A new EdWeek Research Center survey found that more than four out of ten teachers said at least one teacher in their area had been hurt by a student in the past year.

The poll of 1,042 district leaders, principals, and teachers was done from July 27 to August 8.

After roughly two weeks of debate, Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth issued a mea culpa of sorts, asserting that the company “never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people.”

“We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people. We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer,” Whitworth’s statement read in part.

“My time serving this country taught me the importance of accountability and the values upon which America was founded: freedom, hard work and respect for one another,” he continued, contending he is focused on “building and protecting our remarkable history and heritage.”

“I spend much of my time traveling across America, listening to and learning from our customers, distributors, and others,” Whitworth added. “Moving forward, I will continue to work tirelessly to bring great beers to consumers across our nation.”

While conservatives — including Donald Trump Jr. and Charlie Kirk — pointed out that Anheuser-Busch actually has a history of donating to conservative causes and supporting some Republicans, such as Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) in the last election cycle, Bud Light sales have reportedly continued to drop.

According to reports, the boycott has resulted in a major cut in Bud Light sales among Pittsburgh-area beer distributors. According to TribLive, Myrna’s Brewery Outlet, for example, typically sold 200 cases of Bud Light per week. That figure dropped to 40 cases last week.

But the victory by the 27-year-old American, who began racing in 2019, was met almost immediately by backlash from cycling fans on social media and some former cyclists.

The Union Cycliste Internationale changed its rules so that athletes can only participate in women's events if their serum testosterone level has been 2.5 nanomoles per liter or less for at least 24 months. That was a change from the old rules, which said that levels had to be below 5 nanomoles for a year before a race.

"The UCI rules are based on the latest scientific knowledge and have been applied consistently. They continue to follow the evolution of scientific findings," the UCI said in a statement, adding that the governing body "may change its rules as scientific knowledge evolves."

After Killips won, Olympic cyclist Inga Thompson wrote on Twitter that the UCI's stance on transgender people was "effectively killing off women's cycling."

World Athletics, which is in charge of track and field, and World Aquatics, which is in charge of swimming, don't let transgender women compete in world events for women.

In a statement, the Tour of the Gila, which takes place in New Mexico and is one of the lowest-level UCI races, said it had to follow the rules of the controlling body and let Killips keep his win.

"Tour of the Gila recognizes the heated debate about rider eligibility and classifications set by UCI and USA Cycling and encourages UCI and USA Cycling to hold an open discussion on the matter," the race said in a statement.

Killips rides for the Amy D Foundation in memory of American cyclist Amy Dombroski. She said in a statement shared on social media that she had gotten a lot of support from people in and out of the cycling community.

Edward Felsenthal, the head editor of Time, is said to have asked Spielberg what he thought about the language in Roald Dahl's children's stories being changed to make it less offensive.

On the subject of E.T., Spielberg blasted his own decision to retroactively edit the movie.

Bacon captioned the clip: “#DragBans are bad karma. Right now, drag performers and the LGBTQIA+ community need our help.”

The star from the movie "Footloose" told his fans to donate to the "Drag Defense Fund" of the ACLU. The goal of this fund is to raise money "to support the ACLU's LGBTQ+ rights work." He also told people to check out his own charity, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

At the end of the post is the phrase "#DragIsaRight."

Some states, like Florida and Tennessee, are making it illegal for drag shows to be performed in front of children because they are often rude and sexual.

Tennessee passed a law in February that makes it illegal for drag queen shows and other sexually explicit acts to happen in front of children or on public land where children may be. Breitbart News said that a federal judge has briefly put a stop to the law because it is "likely both unclear and too broad."

Several celebs have spoken out against the state's anti-grooming laws, including pop star Lizzo, who recently performed in Tennessee with former RuPaul's Drag Race contestants in defiance of the laws.

“These numbers are staggering,” according to an April 23 report from Insights Express, a beer-focused newsletter. “Right now this is an extremely difficult scenario for Anheuser Busch, the Bud Light brand and for AB distributors.”

Officials at the company are said to have punished two executives for giving the go-ahead for the Mulvaney ads.

The Wall Street Journal shared a chart that showed how sales of Bud Lights were going down while sales of Coors Light and Miller Light were going up:

Rasmussen polled 1,041 people on April 18 and found that sales would go down. A poll found that 54% of Americans want to stop drinking Bud Light. This includes 53% of men, 57% of white respondents, 66% of Republicans, and 57% of people under the age of 40. About one-third of people in each income group say they "strongly support" the boycott.

This shows how strongly Americans disagree with the elites who back Mulvaney's transgender ideology, which wants to get rid of the popular and helpful differences between men and women and boys and girls in society and the law. This would give government officials and their political friends a lot of chances to use the resulting civic conflicts and personal harm to their economic and political advantage.

Other companies that hired Mulvaney to sell beauty, clothing, and hygiene goods for women have been boycotted because of the beer boycott.

Twitter's blue check mark, which was originally designed to safeguard notable personalities from impersonation, quickly became a trophy doled out to favored users by staff at the woke company, with many non-prominent accounts with fewer than ten thousand followers becoming verified.

Simultaneously, Twitter declined to verify notable conservative and anti-establishment accounts such as James O'Keefe and Julian Assange.

Musk's paid verification mechanism ends the prior, biased regime, but it also introduces new issues, such as pranksters and impersonators paying for a blue check mark to appear more authentic.

The new system may potentially have advantages. It will increase the expenses of running effective spam bots because unverified accounts will have to compete against a much greater number of verified accounts, which may continue to be favored by Twitter's algorithm.

Musk attempted to appease at least some of the erstwhile blue checkmark army over the weekend, offering authentication to a range of celebrity accounts with little rhyme or reason.

The law in Tennessee that limits drag shows was meant to go into effect on April 1, but it was temporarily blocked. This means that the law won't be enforced until late May.

Last month, Republican Gov. Bill Lee signed a bill that makes it illegal to put on a drag show in public or where children can see it. State Rep. Chris Todd, R-Madison County, put forward the bill. He called it a "common sense child safety bill." As Breitbart News has said before, the bill defines "male and female impersonators" as adult cabaret acts.

Dykstra, who played for the Phillies for eight seasons in the 1990s, has called "Doctor" Jill Biden a bad luck charm for Philadelphia sports teams before. The tweet on Saturday night was not the first time he said this.

When the Phillies lost the 2022 World Series in six games to the Houston Astros, Dykstra told the team not to let Jill back into the stadium.

Even though Dykstra didn't say it, Jill went to another game that finished badly for a Philadelphia team.

Jill and her grandson went to Super Bowl LVII this year. The Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, even though it looked like the Eagles were going to win their first Super Bowl ring.

If Jill wants to go to the NBA playoffs, it might be best for the 76ers to suggest that she take up another sport.

“I would love to see them everywhere,” the comedienne continued. “I would love to see trans characters, I would love to see different types of people in the roles of, like, Disney princess, Disney prince, Disney everything.”

Cho added that having transgender characters is “a move towards the future,” as well as “a move towards who we are.”

“I think this would be really important, and it’s a move towards the future. It’s a move towards who we are. I think it’s really admirable and really exciting,” she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Cho said, “I love a coming-of-age story, especially one that really puts an Asian-American woman at the center of it, you know? And this is a very important step in realizing diversity.”

“I play a queer character in the film who’s really somebody that [the kids] look up to, which I think is really amazing,” the actress added of Disney’s Prom Pact, in which she plays school counsellor Miss Chen — one of the first LGBT characters in a full-fledged Disney film.

Cho went on to say that she was inspired to play the role of Miss Chen by "looking to the aunties in my life and everybody who was there on the sidelines supporting me, especially the queer parts of my family."

She said, "I grew up in the gay community, so that was a real tribute to this character for me."

Prom Pact, which is rated TV-14, is the latest movie aimed at kids to include LGBTQAI2S+ propaganda.

In recent years, the Walt Disney Company hasn't been shy about putting messages about being gay or transgender in its material for kids. Here are 15 times Disney showed support for LGBTQAI2S+ people in kids' shows.

“Two things I can say publicly that I do not like. Black History Month is an insult. You’re going to relegate my history to a month?” he reportedly said, before adding:

“Also ‘African-American’ is an insult. I don’t subscribe to that title. Black people have had different titles all the way back to the n-word and I do not know how these things get such a grip, but everyone uses ‘African-American’. What does it really mean?”

He added: “Most black people in this part of the world are mongrels. And you say Africa as if it’s a country when it’s a continent, like Europe.”

This isn’t the first time the Oscar-winning Million Dollar Baby star has spoken out against Black History Month. In a perennially-viral 2005 interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes, Freeman told correspondent Mike Wallace, “I don’t want a Black History Month.”

When asked by Wallace “how are we going to get rid of racism,” Freeman replied: “Stop talking about it.”

Ten years later, the actor said, "If we accept that... in fact, we are all bigots, that we are hardwired to be biased, then we can accept that, 'OK, that's going to be the first thing in our brains, but the second thing in our brains can be our cautious efforts at acceptance.'"

Dylan Mulvaney, who was born a guy but now says she is a woman, is the newest spokesperson for Bud Light. A limited-edition can with his face on it was made to honor Mulvaney. Mulvaney has been promoting the brand in recent social media vids by having fun in a bubble bath and talking about March Madness.

“This month I celebrated my day 365 of womanhood and Bud Light sent me possibly the best gift ever — a can with my face on it,” Mulvaney said in announcing the deal.

The agreement has caused a backlash against the beer brand across the country, which has hurt sales in several states.

Breitbart News said that people are avoiding the brand in bars all over the country. In one bar in Missouri, sales of Bud Light and other Anheuser-Busch drinks have dropped by about 40%, according to reports. A bar in New York's Hell's Kitchen, where there are a lot of gay people, is said to have seen Bud Light sales drop by 70%.

Another study found that the public's reaction to the Dylan Mulvaney campaign has "spooked" Anheuser-Busch distributors in the South and the heartland of the United States.

Alissa Heinerscheid, vice president of marketing for Bud Light, said in a video, "Bud Light had been known for silly, out-of-touch humor, and it was really important that we try something different."

“All you real women out there – we are in the fight of all fights,” the woman said to her more than 140,000 followers.

“Since the 1960s, we have been fighting for the right to be women,” she added. “Nike, you should be ashamed of yourself.”

“NIKE, you should be ashamed of yourself. You chose a little boy with no breasts and some junk in his pants to represent real women,” she said, adding, “Nike, I am done with you.”

“I will never, ever buy a Nike product for as long as I live,” she said. “And there are millions and millions and millions of women just like me.”

She then challenged other women to “burn your Nike bras … as a way of showing our solidarity and how serious we are that we will be recognized.”

“We are the queens, your consumers hit you where it hurts, and that’s right in your pocket,” she said, concluding, “I challenge every real woman that is sick of this nonsense. It’s a great night to burn my Nike bras.”

“They’re pushing us around and we’re not doing anything about it!”

She then set fire to two bras by her outdoor pool.

The latest controversy over Mulvaney's endorsement started on April 5, when the sportswear giant signed a deal with a trans activist who is clearly not athletic to dance around in an NIKE sports bra and tights.

Mulvaney also said this on Instagram. "Home for a moment and leaning into cozy workout wear with the new Zenvy pants and Alate bra from @nikewomen! They are so soft and comfy that you can wear them to the gym or just around the house. #feelyourall #teamnike #nikepartner."

Because Mulvaney worked with NIKE, many people said bad things about the company. Caitlyn Jenner, a former Olympian, Riley Gaines, a former college swimming champion, Sharon Davies, a famous British athlete, and Megyn Kelly, a TV and podcast host, were some of the people who didn't like it.

It was Mulvaney's second time calling for a boycott of a company. His first time was when he was selling Bud Light beer.

In answer to the ad, Bud Light distributors and customers have stopped buying Anheuser-Busch products like Bud Light, Budweiser, Stella Artois, Shock Top, Kona Brewing Co., Michelob Ultra, and Busch Beer.

In a story about the reaction, Beer Business Daily quoted an insider in the beer business who said that distributors in the Midwest and South are worried about their ties to the beer company:

We reached out to a handful of A-B [Anheuser-Busch] distributors who were spooked, most particularly in the Heartland and the South, and even then in their more rural areas. [Emphasis added]

Anheuser-Busch executives have defended their relationship with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney. In a statement, they said that the transgender activist's "memorial can" is meant to "celebrate a personal milestone," like the 365th day he has called himself a woman.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, executives said, "From time to time, we make special commemorative cans for fans and brand influencers like Dylan Mulvaney." "This commemorative can is not for sale to the general public because it was given as a gift to mark a personal achievement."

Alissa Heinerscheid, the vice president of Bud Light, is seen on a new video seemingly insulting the brand's traditional customers, which are American guys at sports events and dive bars.

“We had this hangover, I mean Bud Light had been kind of a brand of fratty, kind of out-of-touch humor, and it was really important that we had another approach,” Heinerscheid said. “Representation is sort of at the heart of evolution, you have got to see people who reflect you in the work.”
