An emotional Dwyane Wade penned a touching goodbye note Wednesday to his 18-year-old son Zaire, a basketball prospect, who will attend the Brewster Academy boarding school in New Hampshire.

“Man oh Man 😭 😭 😭 Dropping your oldest off to school is another set of emotions that I didn’t know existed,” the former NBA star, 38, captioned the Instagram post. “I’m a proud father! My goal as a parent is to raise kids who know their worth and that are better than I could ever be.”

In the collection of family photos, Zaire is seen posing next to stepmom Gabrielle Union as she holds 1-year-old daughter Kaavia, while Wade stands beside 13-year-old daughter Zaya. Zaya and Zaire also took a separate sibling shot.

Wade, who shares Zaire and Zaya with ex Siohvaughn Funches, also lauded his son’s accomplishments over the years, both personally and professionally.

“From watching Zaire build a company with his friends the last two years, To watching him handle the hate that has been thrown at his sister zaya and showing grown ass men how to love unconditionally at 18 years old, To seeing how he’s been able to handle not seeing his parents interact or be in the same room together for most of his life and the list goes on and on,” Wade penned.

“He’s already way ahead of me at 18. He’s already built different,” the proud dad continued.

Wade added he is “excited” for Zaire to “go on this journey of life as he becomes Zaire Wade!”

“Good Luck at Brewster Academy YnG,” Wade continued.

In April, Zaire announced he would attend Brewster Academy, transferring from Sierra Canyon High School in California.

Union, 47, also posted a message to Zaire on her Instagram story.

“Sending a young Black man across the country alone to school is scary but I am hopeful @zaire is one step closer to his dreams,” she penned, according to Entertainment Tonight. Zaire then responded, “It’s gone be worth it in the end.”

Wade has been married to Union since 2014 and they share daughter Kaavia. Wade also has a 6-year-old son, Xavier, from a previous relationship.
