In the 1999 film, Gellar’s character Karythn Merteuil teaches Blair’s Cecile Caldwell how to go to “second base” and thus share a steamy smooch.
On Wednesday, Gellar, now 43, posted a throwback photo from the 2000 MTV Movie Awards, where the duo paid homage to locking lips.
“Since I will have to stay six feet away from you today (and wear a mask) this will be as close as I get to giving you a birthday kiss. 💋 Happy Birthday @selmablair,” the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star captioned the image.
Later that day, Gellar shared a current photo of herself getting a kiss from Blair while wearing a face mask decorated with a pair of bedazzled lips.
“I got my kiss @selmablair,” Gellar wrote.
Several fans commented on the posts with nostalgia for the hit movie.
