Lewis Burton paid tribute to his late girlfriend, âLove Islandâ host Caroline Flack, one month after her death.
âItâs already been a month I love and miss you so much, I never thought that one day I will never be able to see or speak to you again đ,â the 27-year-old tennis player wrote on Instagram on Monday. âI wake up and think youâre going to be laying next to me or youâre going to call me in a minute. It just doesnât seem real.â
He continued, âI wish I could give you a kiss and a cuddle and say everything is going to be ok. I am so grateful I met you I just want to make you proud. Xâ
His heartfelt message was attached to a photo of the couple smiling as they donned matching hats.
Flack died by hanging in her London home in February. She was 40 years old.
At the time, Burton grieved online, writing, âMy heart is broken we had something so special.
I am so lost for words I am in so much pain I miss you so much.â
Her death came just two weeks before she was set to go on trial for allegedly assaulting Burton in December. He initially accused her of hitting him with a lamp before backtracking on the claims.
Days before her suicide, she penned a letter apologizing to her family, writing, âI have always taken responsibility for what happened that night. Even on the night. But the truth is âŠ. It was an accidentâŠBut I am NOT a domestic abuser. We had an argument and an accident happened. An accident.â
The pair took their romance public in August 2019.
