The disturbed menace returns to wreak havoc on Laurie Strode and her family once more in Halloween Kills, but this time, he’s bringing more blood.

Celebs’ Horror Movie Pasts

“This movie is, like, a thousand times gorier. It is so fast-paced,” Judy Greer exclusively reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly. “[Jamie Lee Curtis] is just so fun and we have so much fun making these movies. In the midst of it all, we would burst out laughing and we’re, like, covered in blood. We had this blood set and blood bucket off set. It was filled with fake blood.”

The area, lovingly known as “the blood station” by the cast and crew, also included several fake blades and cutters.

“Before we would shoot, we would all have to walk through the blood station and dip our hands in this gooey, sticky, horrible substance. And just after doing it so many times, we’d just look at each other and be like, ‘What the f—k are we doing?’ It’s so ridiculous,” she recalls. “You walk by the prop table and you see, like, 18 giant knives covered in blood. Just laying down in a row on a prop table. I was trying to stay out of the way in little setups that I wasn’t in.”

While keeping her distance, the Lady of the Manor actress would keep busy — in an unexpected backdrop.

“I put my director’s chair in the morgue, and I was knitting in my director’s chair, surrounded by fake, dead bodies that Michael Myers had killed. Also covered in blood. There’s just blood everywhere,” she tells Us. “There’s blood on every knitting project I was working on. I think there’s still blood in my hair. It’s so sticky and so fun and so crazy. And then sometimes you’re like, ‘Crap! I have to go to the bathroom!’ … I’ve done a horror before, but nothing this bloody.”

Jamie Lee Curtis in ‘Halloween Kills.’ Courtesy Miramax

Greer plays Curtis’ daughter Karen in the horror sequel, alongside returning stars Andi Matichak and Will Patton. In 2018’s Halloween, Michael escapes a mental institution and reunites with Laurie (Curtis) after four decades. This time, Greer reveals his killing spree goes beyond Haddonfield, Illinois.

“It’s like if Halloween was reintroducing you to the story and the town and the trauma. It’s actually beautifully shot,” she explains. “The first one tells a story of trauma and Halloween Kills tells the story of mob mentality, really. And we open it up. Instead of to our family, we open the story up to the whole town. … What was exciting and what I didn’t expect in the first movie was just how important it was for us to get the story right. And that was something that I loved as an actor, to make sure we’re really telling the right story and honoring the characters.”

Curtis’ dedication to the franchise has been “inspiring” to Greer. “I hope I do other movies with her,” she gushes to Us. “She cares so much about this story of the Strode family in this town and Michael Myers. And so that’s one thing that I didn’t anticipate going into the first one, how important it was for us to examine the story of trauma. I’m like, ‘Oh, we’re going to have fun! We’re making a horror movie!’ But this is why some movies are successful, I think, and some art — because this tells a big story in it.”

Halloween Kills hits theaters and drops on Peacock Friday, October 15. Halloween Ends is expected to be released in 2022. For more with Greer, check out the latest issue of Us Weekly, on stands now.

“I think there’ve been so many new, different versions of Sabrina. There was that darker version on Netflix. So, I don’t know. I mean, it would be really fun. I don’t know what the story is there. I think a reunion could be fun,” the Clueless actress, 50, exclusively told Us Weekly. “When we did a Comic Con, we were saying, ‘Yeah, let’s do a reunion movie in Australia.’ Like, ‘Let’s just go.’ … Everybody would be game, I guess.” (The cast reunited at Stan Lee’s L.A. Comic Con in 2017.)

Donovan played Morgan Cavanaugh on the beloved series, which also starred Beth Broderick, Caroline Rhea, Nate Richert, Jenna Leigh Green, Martin Mull, Soleil Moon Frye, Lindsay Sloane and David Lascher. The ABC sitcom ran for seven seasons on ABC from 1996 to 2003. Donovan, for her part, appeared in 55 episodes between 2000 and 2003.

Last month, Hart, 45, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the show with a sweet tribute on Instagram.

“It’s been brought to my attention that 25 years ago today, Sept 27, 1996, our show first aired on ABC for 7 seasons. The little engine that could we called it since it was in the shadows of the largely anticipated show #Clueless but it persevered and we got to steal @reddonovan to come over to our fun cast,” she wrote at the time, giving Donovan a shout-out. “Tons of talented guest stars, musical acts and magic tv tricks over the years. Full of friendships and crazy memories, it was an incredible ride to be sure! Thanks for the love and support to help us do what we love to do, make people smile!! Happy #SabrinatheTeenageWitch Day!”

Hart and Donovan have remained close since the show wrapped. Donovan even asked the Drive Me Crazy actress to pen a special note in her memoir, Wake Me When You Leave, which was released over the summer.

’90s Stars: Where Are They Now?

“I said, ‘You don’t have to read it.’ … And then she said, ‘No, I want to read it.’ And she texted me and she said, ‘Oh, my gosh, I read it all in one night. I couldn’t stop. It’s so beautiful.’ She just was so lovely about it. … She’s got a good heart,” she gushed to Us. “I love her. I say this all the time. She’s like an enigma, how she turned out so normal. It was just a mystery to me. She’s just such a champion of her friends and she’s so down to earth and she’s so generous and very, very funny. She’s a good person.”

Judy Greer is a leading lady — and the best wingwoman around. The actress’ career is packed with scene-stealing roles, most notably her work in romantic comedies such as The Wedding Planner, 13 Going on 30 and 27 Dresses.

The Halloween Kills actress, 46, first took on the role of Penny in 2001’s The Wedding Planner opposite Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey. She played the ditzy yet loveable assistant to Lopez’s Mary, who squealed in delight for Mary and Steve’s (McConaughey) love connection — and freaked out when guests at one reception smashed plates to celebrate.

“Penny was great. It was a big deal when I got that part,” Greer exclusively told Us Weekly. “And I think I was the first person to audition for the role and they saw so many people and they gave it to me. They just circled back. And it was so meaningful at the time.”

Three years later, the Lady of the Manor star would appear in fan-favorite 13 Going on 30 with Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. Her character, Lucy, would turn out to backstab her so-called best friend Jenna (Garner) and become the worst Poise magazine editor ever.

Courtesy of Jennifer Garner/Instagram

Funnily enough, Lopez, 52, would be featured on the cover of Poise’s competitor magazine Sparkle in the movie.

“I don’t remember how that happened!” Greer told Us. “But I did steal a mug that says Poise on it, that I drink my coffee from at least two days a week.”

Greer and Garner, 49, have remained close through the years. In January, the Alias alum posted an Instagram photo of the pair wearing masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “Always the smartest. Always the funniest. Always the biggest @dodgers fan in the room. I love @missjudygreer. ♥️ #TeamJG p.s. Hey, JG — remember how I said I wasn’t going to post you? 😬 Sorry, but you’re cute,” she wrote.

The Jurassic World star would again be a supportive coworker in 2008’s 27 Dresses alongside Katherine Heigl, James Marsden, Malin Akerman and Edward Burns. Although she’s never reprised these key roles, Greer feels like there’s been sequel rumors about “all of them” at one point or another.

“People are desperate to make sequels of everything these days. Which I’m like, ‘Really guys? The well is dry? Nothing can be their own thing anymore?’ But, hey, I wouldn’t say no. That’s for sure,” she told Us. “Because I loved making all of them!”

‘Boy Meets World’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

“In the final season of the show, we did this video. [Me and Will Friedle] came up with this idea for the wrap party. Like, ‘Hey, let’s go around and pretend it’s 10 years later and shoot a “Where Are They Now?” for the cast of Boy Meets World,’” Rider Strong exclusively told Us Weekly. “This little project was going to be maybe a week’s worth of work and ended up being, like, a 10-minute video.”

Strong, 41, and Friedle, 45, who played Shawn Hunter and Eric Matthews on the sitcom, respectively, didn’t cheap out on props either.

Everybody was in it,” Strong explained. “We never wanted to release it because it’s totally inappropriate. There’s lots of inappropriate jokes and a lot of inside jokes in there. But we showed it at the wrap party. We had so much fun making that. It’s still one of the favorite things I’ve ever worked on. It’s like my first directing gig, because I was making this fake documentary.”

The Cabin Fever actor has no idea who has the original copy, but he thinks “some of it got leaked online” eventually.

“It was on VHS. We made a desk copy for the cast and crew. There’s probably a lot of the cast who wouldn’t really want that out there,” he added. “You might be able to find parts of it. It’s not for everybody.”

’90s Stars: Where Are They Now?

Strong and Friedle became close on the series, to the point where they’d often ruin takes while filming. “It’s insane. I could make Will break with just — he knows when I’m about to lose it and I can’t hold it together. You can see the corners of my mouth about to curl and he falls apart,” he recalled to Us. “It actually took a little while for Will and I to become as close as we are. It wasn’t until the last three or four seasons of the show that we started hanging out. He was older when the show started. He was 16 and I was 13. But I think once I got out of high school, I graduated a little early, so the last couple of years I was going to college and Will and I started hanging out. And we’ve just maintained our friendship. He’s one of my oldest and best friends. Basically, every two weeks, we are on the phone. Even during the pandemic we’re constantly brainstorming and helping each other with projects and writing things together.”

“I remember when we came back and I was talking to [creator] Michael [Jacobs] because he was trying to kind of brainstorm where Shawn is. I said, ‘You know, I don’t know if Shawn is super comfortable around kids. Like, how to deal with a teenager,'” he explained. “And so we really leaned into that for the first couple of times Shawn was on the show and that became Shawn learning how to connect with Maya [Sabrina Carpenter], who of course is sort of like the [female] version of Shawn, right? Like, the troubled kid and wrong side of the tracks. And I just loved working with Sabrina. She’s so talented and such a great actor.”

Strong, who also directed a few episodes of GMW, thinks that Shawn is “finally” in a good spot in his life. But his time as Shawn Hunter is probably behind him now.

“I had already finished/stopped acting completely. So when they asked me to come back I was like, I’m going to do this bit. I’ll say goodbye to acting and I really want to focus on directing,” he explained to Us. “Saying goodbye to Shawn for me was also saying goodbye to an acting career. So I would like to think he’s happy.”

Bonnie Wright. Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock

Bonnie Wright is using her platform for good. The actress and author is teaming up with Too Good to Go, the world’s No. 1 anti-food waste app, to mark the United Nations’ International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste.

Stars Who Give Back

“I’ve always been, even from a young age, someone who’s always very interested in taking part in any opportunity I could. Showing up and getting involved in things. So I think that kind of curiosity and eagerness was something that started from a young age,” the Harry Potter star, 30, exclusively tells Us Weekly. “But when it comes to the climate, I had this growing concern and sort of understanding of the amount of single-use plastics that was ending up in our ocean. And the ocean as an environment has always been something that I’ve loved and gotten so much joy from. So that led to sort of me asking questions, like, ‘What are the things I was doing in my day-to-day life that was causing some of the single-use plastic pollution? What are we doing as individuals and maybe where were areas in the system kind of broken?’”

Too Good To Go. Too Good To Go/Jan-Philipp Winkler, Lisa Wartzack

To answer those queries, Wright looked to simple changes she could make in her everyday life to reduce food waste. “It has so many amazing solutions around it. And I’m always trying to learn new things. And I’m always trying to learn new things,” she explains. “I think a few things that I really learned in my day-to-day life is composting my food waste instead of putting it in the sort of black, landfill bin. And that changed according to the living situation I’ve been in. In times if I’m not somewhere for a long time, I try and find different local drop-offs for food scraps to be composted. Then other times, in some areas you can put that in your green yard waste bin. And then other times I’ve kind of had my own at-home composting system if I had more time to get dedicated to it. So that’s a big one for me. And the second thing would be just really not buying more than you need.”

‘Harry Potter’ Stars Reuniting Through the Years

Additionally, the activist has learned how to store her food better to get the most life out of it. And she’s even used the app, which helps stores and restaurants sell their surplus food, when she recently visited a friend in New York.

“I was staying at a friend’s house and [there was] a local bagel shop that he didn’t even know existed, like, around the corner of his house,” she tells Us. “So it’s exciting for something like that when you’re not cooking and you’re not maybe preparing food, but you’re buying, and wanting to buy things from a local restaurant that the app enables that as an opportunity.”

She thinks ahead when she gets takeout or travels as well. “[I take] my own reusable, bamboo utensils,” she adds. “I carry [them] around with me everywhere.”

Emma Watson and Bonnie Wright. Alan Davidson/Shutterstock

Wright’s actions have rubbed off on family and friends — or at least has started to. “I try not to be too forceful!” she jokes to Us. “I think often people kind of learn from you by seeing how excited it makes you or how happy it makes you. And I think that is more infectious as a way to kind of implement change in your community. But friends will often say, like, ‘Oh, I did this the other day and you would have hated it.’ Or, ‘I did this today and I knew you’d be really proud of me.’ But I always feel so happy when all people ask questions, like, ‘I’m trying to do something in my kitchen or my bathroom. Do you have any tips?’ I love that.”

Some of Wright’s famous costars have also been making a difference over the years — including Emma Watson. The pair specifically connected about their shared interests after the Harry Potter films wrapped.

‘Harry Potter’ Stars: Then and Now

“[We] that bit more time to dedicate to things that we were kind of personally more interested in. Even just beyond Emma, [there’s a] group chat between me, Emma, Katie Leung and Evanna Lynch,” she reveals to Us. “All four of us have gone on in our own way to be really interested in certain justice, whether that’s women’s rights, whether that’s climate justice, whether that’s Evanna with animal justice. We’ve found it so interesting that we’ve all found our way to something that kind of shares like a similar kind of goal or perspective toward that equality idea. So it’s been nice. We have been drawn to that and I’m sure, you know, each of us are so grateful that we have the platform that people will listen and have that opportunity and not take that for granted.”

“Look at you, you have a baby … in a bar!” Sweet Home Alabama’s Lurlynn may have raised eyebrows bringing her newborn to the local pub, but Melanie Lynskey would go on to do the same years later.

‘Sweet Home Alabama’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

“I think that I have, yes!” the actress, 44, exclusively told Us Weekly. “I think I brought my daughter to a bar.”

Lynskey’s daughter, 2, whom she shares with partner Jason Ritter, tagged along with the actress to her Lady of the Manor wrap party. The Togetherness alum shot the Justin Long-directed supernatural comedy — alongside Judy Greer and Ryan Phillippe — in Florida right before the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

Lynskey appeared in 2002’s Sweet Home Alabama with Reese Witherspoon, Josh Lucas, Patrick Dempsey, Jean Smart, Candice Bergen, Ethan Embry, Mary Kay Place and Fred Ward. She was like, ‘Good job.’”

The Castle Rock alum went on to rave about her former costar. “I love Reese. I’m so impressed by her as a human, being, the work that she does as an advocate for children, the person she is, the way she is uplifting other women and making women’s stories told, her production company [Hello Sunshine] is just incredible,” she continued. “The books she’s optioning. I’m just like, I — already at that point in time, 20 years ago — I was like, ‘This is a woman to watch.’ She’s just such a strong person who has just always been so fully herself and she hasn’t had a misstep. Her career has just been going [up and up] for all these years. And who does that? It’s incredible.”

“On the weekends we would all get together and have parties and cook together and hang out together. It was a really fun group. Everyone really liked each other,” the YellowJackets star told Us. “We had some pretty crazy parties on that movie. A hotel room in Atlanta just playing games with each other. It was a very fun set.”

“Look, I would love to do the sequel. The issue is Reese’s got a book club,” he quipped during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Pop Culture Spotlight With Jessica Shaw that same month. “And I’m saying that, like, laughingly, but Reese is, you know, I’ve heard like, ‘Oh, you can talk to her about stuff five years from now.’ You know, she’s a mogul. And back when I was doing Sweet Home Alabama, I, for some reason, remember telling the director or somebody speaking about her, but I said, ‘I bet this woman ends up running a movie studio one day.’ And she’s even beyond that at this point. … I mean, it’s extraordinary and not surprising either, at all.”

I’m pretty far down the list of who people will go to. We’ve got to get the band back together. Of course, I would! It was so fun,” she told Us. “I would love to work with Reese again.”

As for where Lurlynn would be today? “She already had so many kids at that point. I think she had four children. I was 21 years old when I did that movie, I think 22. So how many kids? She’s got like 20 more years of baby-making ahead of her,” Lynskey teased. “She probably has like 10 kids now!”

It’s time for another Mitch-A-Palooza! Luke Wilson is down to reprise his role of Mitch in an Old School sequel, nearly two decades after the raunchy comedy hit theaters.

Famous Celebrity Siblings

“I’d love to do a sequel with those guys. That’s probably the most fun I’ve ever had going to work, was getting to be around Will [Ferrell] and Vince [Vaughn],” the Family Stone actor, 50, exclusively told Us Weekly. “They’re both kind of forces of energy.”

Actors Who Portrayed Real People in Movies and TV Shows

“I grew up watching Saturday Night Live and I can remember my dad and his friends being all excited on Saturday nights in the ‘70s about SNL coming on. And so then to have the opportunity to work with somebody like Will, to me, I’ve always felt like there are people who are funny and people say, ‘Oh, I have this funny friend.’ Or, ‘This guy was the funniest guy in my class in high school.’ And then you meet somebody like Will who — it’s the difference between a guy that plays golf on the weekends and a professional golfer,” the Legally Blonde actor explained to Us. “Will is just a professional where he’s just got many other levels of power in terms of comedy and how quick and bright he is. And the same with Vince just in terms of being so sharp and funny. I would love to do another movie with those guys.”

“Oh, I wouldn’t do another Old School,” he told The Guardian in 2006. “They put these rumors out there, these studio people, but I would never be behind that one.” In 2017, he also simply replied “no” when a fan asked about a possible second film during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.

Ferrell, Wilson and Vaughn, 51, also appeared alongside Jeremy Piven, Ellen Pompeo, Juliette Lewis, Leah Remini and Perrey Reeves. Only time will tell if Frank the Tank goes streaking again, but Wilson has an idea where Mitch may have ended up.

“I’d like to think he might have a wife and a couple of kids and a steady job and hopefully still keeping in touch with those guys. Hopefully, they’re not all still living together. That would be a little more sad. But yea, all those guys are great,” he told Us. “I don’t know if they really make stuff like that anymore for better or for worse. But I’d certainly be up for it.”

Stars We’ve Lost in 2021

The actors play Sheriff Wilkins and U.S. Marshal Britt MacMasters, respectfully, in the Michael Feifer-directed Western, which was written by Jerry Robbins. As Britt returns home to find his father (Tom Skerritt) wounded and his son, Chad (Mason McNulty), kidnapped by an outlaw, he makes it his mission to bring his loved one home.

“I had never done a Western, so I was super stoked to do. It just looks so beautiful too the way it was shot. I got to work with really fantastic actors and Jay Pickett, who was a lead in it. He was really such a great guy and what a beautiful soul, what a tragic loss. He passed away doing what he loved, passed away while he was shooting,” the Nurse Jackie actor, 47, exclusively told Us Weekly. “All my scenes were with Jay. We really got along. We talked a lot. He’s a family man, and I was really excited for him.”

Twilight Cullen Family: Where Are They Now?

Months after shooting wrapped, the General Hospital alum died while working on another Western, Treasure Valley, in Idaho, on July 30. He was 60 years old.

And I just had met him the first day. He just came by, and we started talking about his kids and his love for making movies. He was just such a solid, genuine guy. And I took a liking to him right away. And then it kind of carried on into our scenes,” Facinelli recalled to Us.

He added: “The beauty about film is his performance will live on.”

Catch the Bullet was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We shot it last year and there was no filming going on. And because we were in the middle of Oklahoma, they were very self-contained. So we were able to pull that off and I don’t think anybody got sick either, which was really great,” he explained.

Celebrity Twilight Fans

This is Facinelli’s first Western, following a long resume that includes comedies, dramas and the Twilight film franchise.

“When my agents say, ‘What do you want to do next?’ I always say, ‘Well, I want to do something I haven’t done before.’ So I’m always excited because that window gets smaller and smaller because I’ve done so many different types of genres with different characters,” he told Us. “And so, just to be able to go back in time to the wild west and ride a horse, put on this cowboy outfit and be a sheriff, it’s fun. That’s why I became an actor. I get to play make believe and play for a living.”

Catch the Bullet also stars Gattlin Griffith, Cody Jones and Callder Griffith. It’s in select theaters, on Digital and On Demand now.

Sebastian stans! Cruel Intentions’ theme song, The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony,” still follows Ryan Phillippe to this day — but he’s all for it.

’90s Stars: Where Are They Now?

“It makes me smile almost every time. No matter where I am,” the Lady of the Manor actor, 47, exclusively told Us Weekly.

“And there’s been a couple of times in my life where I’ve been, like, at a gas station or whatever. And I’ll suddenly hear the song from across the way. And then there’ll be a group of people waving to me. Like, they put the song on a purpose because they saw me there,” he continued. “But to have to be associated with a song, there could be way worse songs to be associated with. You know, it’s a really great song still. And so when I hear those strings start up, it does, it still makes me happy. So it makes me smile.”

Phillippe starred in the 1999 romantic drama alongside Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair. In the final scene, the 1997 hit plays as Witherspoon’s Annette drives away before the credits roll. (The Counting Crows’ “Colorblind” is also a favorite as Sebastian meets Annette at the top of an airport escalator and kisses her.)

Ryan and Reese’s Relationship Timeline

Since playing Manhattan’s bad boy Sebastian Valmont, the actor has gone on to appear in several TV shows and films, including The Lincoln Lawyer, Damages, Secrets and Lies, Shooter and Big Sky. Over the years, the way he’s chosen projects has changed.

“That’s one of the major changes that comes with getting older and having kids and those sorts of things. You know, you start to consider projects a little differently in terms of how long you’ll be away and where you’ll be at and the people that you’ll be with and wanting it to be an enjoyable experience. It’s like you start to be more aware of only having a certain amount of time to do anything. And so you want that time to be spent wisely and around people that you like and enjoy,” he explained to Us. “Obviously, the story is always still most important in regard to saying yes, and then to put investing your time and effort into something. But it does change as you get older in terms, like, you want to be in a good situation, and you need to modify things according to what your lifestyle is and to the other responsibilities and commitments that you have from a family standpoint.”

Phillippe’s types of roles have also changed since getting his start in the industry nearly three decades ago. “Now that I’m a more mature man, I’m sure the roles are going to be different, and it opens up a whole new world of possibilities of who you can play. And that’s exciting. There’s nothing specific I have in mind. But I definitely do have the sense that there’s still sides of me yet to be shown as an actor and parts that I still want to play that I haven’t done yet,” he said. “I think that’s kind of what’s exciting about life in general is not knowing what comes back, hoping it’s something that you’re excited to do.”

Up next, the Crash star can be seen in Justin Long’s directorial debut, the supernatural comedy Lady of the Manor, and the new Peacock series, MacGruber.

“To go to work and laugh all day is such a completely different experience than to go to work thinking, ‘Oh, I have to do the scene where my wife’s just died’ or ‘I’ve lost my child.’ They’re completely different ways to work and they take a completely different part of yourself and energy to do,” he told Us. “And so there’s a relief sometimes in doing the comedic stuff, because it’s just not as heavy. It’s not as emotionally taxing as drama can be sometimes.”

Justin Long personally reached out to Melanie Lynskey and Ryan Phillippe to join his film, Lady of the Manor — and they both are happy he did.

Movie Makeovers

“He’s just such a joy, such a happy person. He’s like a ray of sunshine. So doing a really silly comedy, I knew already that our senses of humor were really aligned. So I felt like it would be a good fit and it was so fun. His favorite thing in the world, I think, is being part of an ensemble and laughing and being with a group of actors and improvising,” Lynskey, 44, exclusively told Us Weekly of Long, 43.

Phillippe, 47, for his part, told Us: “We’re about the same age. We’ve been in the industry over the same course of time and have been friendly throughout that. So I’ve known him for a while. And he kind of reached out to me and said, ‘My brother and I are going to make our first movie as directors and we cowrote this. Would you take a read?’ And I said, ‘Yes, of course.’ And as soon as I started reading it, I found myself laughing on every page.”

Ryan Phillippe, Melanie Lynskey, and Justin Long Shutterstock (3)

The Dodgeball actor also stars as Max, who meets Lynskey’s Hannah when she gives a tour at Wadsworth Manor. Hannah is a pot-smoking hot mess who is haunted by the ghost of Lady Wadsworth, played by Judy Greer. Long asked Lynskey if she “liked the idea” of playing Hannah, and she was relieved after reading the script.

“I love him so much. I was just glad that the script was funny and made me laugh. I was just glad that I wanted to do it because he’s a hard person to say no to. He’s so sweet and so positive,” she told Us.

For Phillippe, departing from drama to play Tanner Wadsworth, an arrogant, “absurd and silly” character, was a fun change. “Most of my career has been drama or action or whatever it is. And so those opportunities to play something where I can take a little more license and it can be a little more freeing [are worth it],” he explained. “When you’re playing the protagonist in a film, there’s a lot of rules that kind of go along with that in terms of behavior and how accessible you have to be. And to play a character like Tanner just gives you a lot of freedom and [allows you] to not take it so seriously. … The thing that was so appealing about him to me was just that notion of arrested development and a guy who is clearly not young anymore, but still behaves like a college student. I grew up as about as far from this type of guy as possible but met a lot of them in my life. And so it was kind of an opportunity to play in that realm. One of the first things I said to Justin was, ‘I see this guy in pastels. I just want lots of pinks and then salmon and baby blue and all that kind of thing.’ I’m like, ‘I want to have a fake tan.’ Like, immediately after reading the script, I had a picture in my head for what this guy should look like.”

“It was great. They are almost the same person, really. They have such a close relationship that’s really sweet and such a natural and easy handoff in terms of their approach to making the movie. And when Justin was working in front of the camera, he was always comfortable that his brother was holding it down as the director. And I thought he was really prepared, really enthusiastic, so kind to the crew. The crew really loved working for and with both of them,” Phillippe told Us. “And I think that’s the best thing you can say. That the people enjoy the experience, and they were treated with respect and kindness. And Justin is such a good dude that way. He’s a really special individual. His brother is similar and cut from the same cloth. I was just happy to support them and to help them get the movie made.”

Lynskey added: “It would be hard for him to step away to do the directing part. He’d be like, ‘Oh, I keep forgetting that I can’t just hang out! And I have to go and work.’ But he was such a good, natural director. And Christian was really good on keeping him on track too. … I just adore Justin so much. We’re both very, very close with our siblings. And I think we’ve developed that kind of bond with each other. I would just look at him sometimes at the monitor with his headphones on and just paying attention to something and laughing and just feel filled with this pride and this happiness for him, that he was making his dream come true. And he was getting to do it with his little brother. It’s just amazing.”

Melanie Lynskey as Hannah and Justin Long as Max in ‘Lady of the Manor.’ Courtesy of Lionsgate

She also appreciated how it was a women-led comedy. “I feel like it’s kind of a part that Seth Rogen would do. You’ve seen men playing this kind of part and it’s accepted, but there’s still this weird standard for women where they have to be a certain level of cute before they get to be messy or they have to be sweet and kind, and they get to be a little bit of a loser or whatever. And I like that she just was kind of selfish,” Lynskey explained to Us, noting it was a “dream” to finally work with Greer. “[Hannah] was a mess and she wanted to be comfortable and was not thinking about anything else. And it felt really kind of feminist to me to get to play a part like that.”

Lady of the Manor was filmed right before the COVID-19 pandemic surfaced in March 2020. Phillippe was vocal with his costars about the news headlines he had been reading at the time.

These Stars Almost Played These Major Movie and TV Roles!

“A lot of people still hadn’t heard about it, but I had done enough reading and seen enough projections about what it could potentially be that I would say to them, you know, ‘You guys have heard about this, right?’ And they’re like, ‘What are you talking about?’ Like, ‘No, I think this could be a real thing. And, you know, this may really affect or disrupt life as we know it.’ And they kind of laughed at me,” the Shooter star recalled to Us. “We finished and about a month and a half later is when everything in the world shut down in March. And I remember getting a text from [Judy] saying, ‘Oh, my God, how did you know? You were right.’ … This was the last project prior to COVID that any of us did where there was still kind of that freedom to interact on set in a social manner, the way we’re accustomed to, and things are much different now. I’ve done five projects post-COVID and it’s a completely different way to work. And there’s so many rules and things that you have to be considerate and careful about it. It’s changed fundamentally everything obviously, but certainly, the way that you work on a film set and how collaborative it is. And it still is, but it’s just very different. But this is the last time where there wasn’t that kind of concern.”

Lionsgate

Lynskey admitted she was a bit “naive” about the situation in the early stages. “I just didn’t know that this pandemic would take over the world and it would be the thing for such a long time,” she said. “I remember at the time Ryan was talking about it in January of 2020 and we were at this party, my little daughter was running around and kissing everybody. And he was like, ‘She’s not going to be able to do that for much longer.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, my goodness.’ You know, and he was absolutely right. The world just changed, and I look back on it as the last moments of true freedom, getting to be in a group of people. And let’s really hope that the world goes back to that or some version of that at some point.”

Lady of the Manor is now in select theaters, on Apple TV and everywhere you rent movies. It’s available on Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, September 21.

Justin Long wore multiple hats for his directorial debut on Lady of the Manor, which he wrote and created with his younger brother, Christian Long.

Funniest Women in Hollywood

The actor, 43 — best known for roles in Dodgeball, Accepted, He’s Just Not That Into You and more — was inspired by “odd couple setups” and films such as What About Bob? and Planes, Trains and Automobiles while writing the script.

“Our intention was to make more than beyond the supernatural comedy,” he exclusively told Us Weekly. “And so we had this idea that we’ve been kicking around, and it never really came to fruition. We didn’t know how to make it work. It ended up being kind of too tragic to work as a comedy. But it was kind of like a comedic version of Psycho where instead of being a sinister presence, Norman Bates’ dead mother is more of an annoying presence, where she just bugs him and she’s still overbearing. We thought there’s a lot of value and there’s comedic value in that.”

Justin and Christian Long on the set of Lady of the Manor. Brian James/Lionsgate

The brothers “married” those ideas and set out to create a comedy specifically for women. In Lady of the Manor, a Southern belle named Lady Wadsworth (played by Judy Greer) comes back as a ghost to haunt crass, pot-smoking Hannah (Melanie Lynskey), and tries to change her unladylike ways. While Hannah gives tours at Wadsworth Manor, she’s also introduced to Tanner Wadsworth (Ryan Phillippe) and Max (Justin).

“We’re not reinventing the wheel, but we certainly weren’t used to seeing two women in a movie that was more of like — that’s why they call it bro comedies. But we thought, like, ‘Well, I know women who laugh at farts and, like, dick jokes.’ It seems a little strange to be mansplaining the lack of female comedy. But we just thought, God, we know so many good actresses,” the actor joked to Us. “So we reached out to two of our favorites. I still can’t believe they agreed to do it because Judy and Melanie are considered very classy actresses. But I also knew how funny they were.”

Stars Reveal What They Took From Set

The “Life Is Short” podcast host and Lynskey, 44, previously worked on the 2017 drama And Then I Go together, while Greer, 46, appeared in one of his Mac commercials.

“I used to look forward to just hanging out with Mel so much in between takes. She was so naturally funny. And Judy, of course, everyone knows how funny she is. But they really were game and really took to it,” he added. “I thought they might have some issues with some of the humor, but if anything, they wanted to lean into it. They were like, ‘Oh yeah, more farts, more dick jokes.’ I don’t think they get to do stuff like that often. So they had so much fun, and it was such a blast to just watch them.”

Judy Greer as Lady Wadsworth and Melanie Lynskey as Hannah in Lady of the Manor. Courtesy of Lionsgate

The Halloween Kills star and Lynskey’s characters took part in multiple hilarious montages during the film. While trying to teach her to be a proper lady, Lady Wadsworth made Hannah bite on soap if she cursed and even told her how to pass wind in a respectful manner.

“I’m sort of ashamed to say this, but I was way too proud of the moment. Christian and I, we grew up next door to this very sweet, older, single lady who would come over for dinner often. And she was very old-fashioned with her approach to etiquette. And I remember once she just went into the other room, and we were kind of confused in the middle of dinner. And I think it was because she had to fart and pass gas. And we always thought that was so funny. The idea that everyone farts, of course, but that there’s an etiquette about it. There’s a proper way to do that,” Justin explained to Us of writing in the joke. “So I always liked that scene where Melanie’s learning that and the ghost teaches her. She doesn’t use the crass term like fart, but she says if you must break wind, or however she says it, you must go into another room.”

Stars on Movie Sets

For Justin, watching Greer and the Togetherness alum bond offscreen on the Florida set was an added bonus. “It made us emotional because there’s no way to write that. There’s no way to account for that kind of chemistry. I’ve experienced this as an actor. Sometimes you show up and it’s not there. And you have to force it a little bit,” he told Us. “So we got really lucky that we saw day one, how much Melanie and Judy were enjoying each other too off camera. They were just making each other laugh. And we were like, ‘Oh God, this thing might work.’ It was so thrilling.”

The Going the Distance actor might continue to work behind the camera moving forward. He and Phillippe, 47, have also already talked about working on another project together.

Courtesy of Lionsgate

“We would love to do another movie. We have an idea for something because it was so fun and we learned so much,” he told Us of himself and Christian. “We don’t have crazy aspirations, I don’t think as filmmakers, other than to make things that people might enjoy, that might make people laugh. And that’s what we like about this movie.”

As for what else he’d like to accomplish? “I’d like to have kids one day,” he noted, joking: “I know that’s a big project to work on!”

Ryan Phillippe is rooting for the new I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot — even though it makes him feel very old.

Celebs’ Horror Movie Pasts

“I’m super excited about the new series and we’re all in support of it. And we’ve contributed a little bit in regards to what they’re doing from a press standpoint,” the actor, 47, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting Lady of the Manor. “[But] part of it makes you feel ancient. The fact that they’re remaking projects you’ve been in. But also there’s another part of you that is very kind of complimented by it. And the fact that something that you did has stood the test of time and it’s still relevant and people still enjoy it, and it finds a new audience every year, it’s cool.”

Phillippe starred in the 1997 horror flick of the same name alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

I’m excited to see it. I’ve heard it’s really good. I’ve heard the cast is really great. I think Amazon is also doing a Cruel Intention series now, too. So I guess they’re just going to redo my whole catalog.”

The Crash actor played Barry Cox, the boyfriend of Gellar’s Helen Shivers. His character met his fate when he was killed off by Benjamin “Ben” Willis on the balcony of a pageant in a bloody, gut-wrenching (literally) scene.

Horror Movie Stars: Where Are They Now?

“I had a thing when I was young, I liked dying in movies. I always thought it was like a completion. It was like you brought this character to the end of their existence,” Phillippe told Us, laughing. “There was something that appealed to me about that. Like similarly, in Cruel Intentions as well. But, it also had sourced material, it was based on a book. And so that character’s fate in the book had to be kind of honored that way. And I think the first one was the best one. So I was fine with having that be my contribution.”

We went for a joy ride, decided to take my Taurus or whatever it was onto the sand. And we got stuck in a sand dune,” he told Us. “We were all beginning our careers and kind of, you know, in some ways excited to be making a movie. We were in North Carolina at the beach, and we just all got along really well. There was a lot of hanging out and a lot of laughter. It just seems like so long ago.”

The Big Sky actor got battered as Barry, but he’d go on to land much more physically demanding roles.

Scariest Movie Villains of All Time

“The training that I’ve done for some projects has been at times really intense, particularly with Shooter and learning how to be a sniper and working with Marines and being trained by real military soldiers is super exciting and challenging. And I do love the action stuff too,” he told Us. “It takes a toll on you physically, especially as I’m getting older. I mean, after doing an action scene, if you’re doing your own stunts, you have real bruises and cuts and injuries to recover from. But there’s part of me that’s excited by that too. I would say doing an episode of Shooter was sort of like playing a football game. I knew at the end of it I’d be bruised and battered and I need to recover at the end of the season. But you enjoy that struggle too. And then to kind of push [yourself] physically is exciting.”

Amazon’s I Know What You Did Last Summer debuts on October 15.

Last-minute lady! Judy Greer’s accent in the new supernatural comedy Lady of the Manor came together seconds before shooting began.

Celebrity Siblings

“Oh, my God. The accent is actually kind of a funny story. Justin [Long] and Christian [Long] are probably gonna kill me for telling you this, but my first day of work was the scene where we were in the jail cell. And they literally were about to roll the camera and Justin was like, ‘Oh, did we ever talk about you doing an accent?’ And I was like, ‘What?!’ He was like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m the worst,’” Greer, 46, exclusively told Us Weekly of her first day on set.

“I’m like, ‘You’re not the worst. It would have been better if you told me this, like, a week ago, but no, it’s OK. What are you thinking?’ And we kind of decided on this accent that was Dustin Hoffman‘s accent in Tootsie when he was Dorothy Michaels,” the Halloween star continued. “That’s kind of what I was going for. I wasn’t going for a specific time period. We just decided on the fly to go with Dorothy Michaels’ accent.”

In addition to writing and directing with his younger brother, the Dodgeball actor, 43, also starred alongside Greer and Melanie Lynskey.

“He’s the best,” the 13 Going on 30 actress gushed to Us. “We were just having so much fun. It wasn’t, like, some crazy dramatic performance where then he had to shift gears and be the director. We were shooting a lot of footage and then he would disappear for a second. We’d be like, ‘Where the f—k did he go?’ And it was so he’d go check the monitor. … He’s just so effortless and fun and funny. His comedic timing is amazing and his sense of humor — he’s really smart and really funny. So I never felt like, ‘Why are you giving me notes?’ I always wanted more. I always was hoping he would give me more notes, give me more ideas so we can riff a little bit more and we did. We just went crazy all the time — the three of us — as far as ad-libbing and stuff.”

Justin’s Max ends up meeting Hannah on one of her tours — and is quick to point out that she’s terrible at her job.

Movie Makeovers

The actress previously appeared in a Mac commercial with the “Life Is Short” podcast host, and always hoped she’d share the screen with Lynskey, 44.

“We’ve been trying to work together for literally years. It’s always funny to me what you end up working with people who you love and admire and look up to. And she is one of those people,” she explained. “I always considered her to be a friend. But finally we got to do this totally hysterical, weird movie together. And in Tampa, Florida, where we shot it, just so random. It’s not what I imagined and I’m so thrilled that’s what it was.”

‘Lady of the Manor’ poster. Lionsgate

Production on the film occurred right before the global pandemic — and it was costar Ryan Phillippe that informed Greer of how serious it was becoming.

Stars and Their Stunt Doubles

“Ryan was like, ‘Oh, my God, you guys, have you heard of COVID? This thing is happening and it’s crazy. And we’re all going to die.’ And I was like, ‘Dude, you’re f—king bringing me down man.’ And then he was right and it was awful,” Greer recalled to Us. “It was one of my last movies before COVID and I remember Ryan telling me that I should go buy a mask for my flight home to L.A. And I was like, ‘Why?’ And he is very smart, by the way. And he watches the news constantly. … He was just like, ‘Please trust me. Get hand sanitizer and get a mask and wear one on the plane ride home.’ And I was like, ‘OK, fine.’ So maybe Ryan Phillippe kept me from getting COVID. No one else on airplane had a mask on and I felt like an a—hole. But I didn’t get COVID!”

Lady of the Manor is now in select theaters, on Apple TV and everywhere you rent movies. It’s available on Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, September 21.

A long time coming! Kate Hudson and fiancé Danny Fujikawa met in their early ‘20s, but it wasn’t until 2016 that they started dating.

“The first time I met Danny I was 23 and enormously pregnant with Ryder. His stepsisters are my best friends @sarafoster @erinfoster and so it goes we have been in the same circle for over a decade,” the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress wrote via Instagram in December 2017, one year into their romance. “A year ago today, Danny took me on a hike and what I thought was just a hike with a family friend turned very quickly into an unexpected first date.”

Hudson revealed that “no moves were made on the first date,” noting it actually took the California native “months” to make the first move.

“And as a kiss on this bridge would have been nice, the kiss a year later was so much sweeter. So, on our 15th year of knowing each other we were able to open our hearts to each other to feel so much pure love and it’s been truly incredible,” she added. “Happy first date anniversary baby. #LoveThisMan 🙏 #WhatAYear.”

The Almost Famous actress previously gushed about her man in May 2017 when they made their red carpet debut at the Snatched premiere in Los Angeles.

“My cute man. He’s the best!” Hudson told Extra at the event after sharing a kiss and posing for photos. When asked what she loves most about him, she replied: “How long do you have? He’s a good man.”

The same day, Hudson’s mom, Goldie Hawn, and stepfather, Kurt Russell, revealed that they had already given Fujikawa their seal of approval.

“He’s a great guy. Yeah, he’s very special actually,” Hawn told Entertainment Tonight on the Snatched carpet. Russell added: “I always approve. Kate brings good guys.”

Hudson and Fujikawa welcomed their first child, daughter Rani, in October 2018 after dating nearly two years. Their little one joins the Bride Wars star’s two sons, Ryder (whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Robinson) and Bingham (whom she shares with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy).

The Fabletics cofounder announced in September 2021 that she and Fujikawa were engaged.

Vamped and ready to go. Claire Holt’s Rebekah Mikaelson said her final goodbyes in The Originals’ series finale in 2018 — but the actress is ready to return to New Orleans.

The Originals Cast: Where Are They Now?

“I miss Rebekah a lot. I really do. I would love the opportunity one day to play her again,” Holt, 33, exclusively told Us Weekly. “She was just such a dynamic character, and those characters don’t really come around all that often. And it was a character that the fans really connected with, and I loved that. And I loved how I got to sort of go on this journey with them for so many years. It just was such a great experience working with the people that I got to work with. They’re still my friends to this day. Spending seven years of our lives with these characters, it’s like you’re going away to college with them.”

Holt first made her mark as Rebekah on The Vampire Diaries before joining its spinoff, which ran from 2013 to 2018.

In the series finale, Rebekah “ran off with Marcel [Charles Michael Davis]” and “they got married,” Holt recalled. Now, she thinks they would still be together.

The Vampire Diaries: Where Are They Now?

“I think she’d be running around somewhere fabulous with him, maybe they’re in Europe somewhere,” she teased. “I don’t know if she ever got that family she wanted. Maybe they adopt two daughters. It’s so funny trying to think back to the mythology like, OK. Did she take the cure? There are so many years now, but she’d definitely be off with Marcel somewhere having a great time and making a mess.”

Following the CW show, Holt has welcomed son James, 2, and daughter Elle, 11 months, with her husband, Andrew Joblon, who will always take precedence in her life.

TV and Movie Vampires Through the Years

“I also am a mom of two kids now and they are my priority and being with them and experiencing all the special moments with them is really important to me. I don’t want to miss out on their lives either. So if we can find a balance and there was a way to make it work, for sure,” the Australia native explained to Us. “I’m a mother first and foremost and a wife and my family is so important to me. And so I want to make sure that I’m there for the moments that are important, and I don’t want to miss out on anything. So now when I think about my career, I really want to be able to do projects that allow me to experience great things [while] having a family as well. But I love acting and I love film and television and I started in television, and it’s always been a passion of mine. So if there were an opportunity that came up that I could do that and it allowed me to sort of still tuck my kids in bed at night some days, then I’d be all for that.”

The Originals also starred Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies and Phoebe Tonkin.

Rider Strong ‘hated’ dancing for the hilarious ‘Boy Meets World’ episode in season 5 — exclusive interview

From in hot water to “Hot Stuff”! Boy Meets World is jam-packed with memorable moments, but it wasn’t until season 5 that audiences realized what they’d always needed — the men dancing to “Hot Stuff” in a club.

Boy Meets World Cast: Where Are They Now?

It all began when Cory Matthews (Ben Savage), Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong), Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) and Mr. Matthews (William Russ) all got into arguments with their partners. To apologize, they banded together — and enlisted Eric Matthews (Will Friedle) and Jack Hunter (Matthew Lawrence) — to surprise the ladies on stage.

“Since the beginning of time, men have been idiots,” Eric says in the episode, “Last Tango in Philly,” which aired in 1997. “This will make up for it.”

And indeed, it did.

“We rehearsed all week. I just remember being more nervous than anything,” Strong, 41, exclusively told Us Weekly. “I’m a horrible dancer and it was one of those things when they told us we were doing it we were like, ‘I’m done.’”

Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle Touchstone Tv/Kobal/Shutterstock

The actors worked with a choreographer to get down the moves — and Daniels, 94, took center stage. “Bill was one of the guys who’s like, ‘Let’s do this.’ He’s done musicals, like, no problemo. He jumped right in. Will was also amazing,” the Cabin Fever actor recalled. “Those were the episodes that I hated where they would throw stuff like that. That and then there was a karaoke episode as well. I had to sing. They would always be like, ‘It’s going to be fine!’ And they’d bring in some, like, coach or choreographer or singing coach to help us. And I was always so nervous and uptight. I’d be like, ‘I can’t do this. I don’t want to have to do this.’ But in retrospect, it was so hysterical. It was so much fun. And Bill’s commitment — you can see it! He committed so hard.”

’90s TV Stars: Then and Now

Daniels starred in all seven seasons of the series from 1993 to 2000 alongside Strong, Savage, 40, Friedle, 45, and Danielle Fishel, who played Topanga Lawrence.

“Bill’s a really funny guy. He’s [such a] professional. I didn’t even realize at the time that he had been a child actor. He started working I think at 5. He never really let us know that. He always treated us as adults from day one, which when we were, like, 12 and 13 it was a little bit intimidating. I remember being scared of him. And that eventually grew into so much respect,” Strong told Us. “This is a man who would show up, memorize, never deviate, always on time. And he was really a role model for us on how to be. We were crazy kids trying to have a good time. … He had everything figured out from the moment he walked on set. He treated everybody with respect, whether it’s the craft service guy, the camera operator. Everybody deserves the same amount of respect. And that trickled down throughout the entire set. And that was really him leading the charge.”

Since the series wrapped, Strong has reunited with Daniels on several occasions, more recently at conventions for the show.

“He’s a smart, politically active guy. I remember one of my first conversations with him when I was 12 or 13, I thought he was British. I didn’t understand that he was, like, an east coast theater actor. He was this trained theater actor. I thought he was a British dude. I have so much respect and now I can cherish those memories,” Strong added. “The man is 94 now and he’s still with it, still sharp as a tack, still having engaging conversations. So I love it. I love him.”

He played their teacher, principal and later college professor.

’90s Nostalgia Photos

“Of course, we always say the joke about the fact that he was always going to be a part of the show. So no matter how old we got or how far we got from sixth grade. He was always going to have to be there,” Strong explained. “It’s like one of those hokey [things] of Boy Meets World that’s kind of cool.”

The series finale would show the students saying their final farewell to Mr. Feeny in his classroom, with the actors crying real tears.

“Believe in yourselves. Dream. Try. Do good,” Mr. Feeny told them.

“Don’t you mean do well?” Topanga asked. He replied: “No. I mean do good.”

For Strong, he hopes the relationships that were portrayed made an impact on audiences. “In the early episodes they make jokes [about Shawn] like, ‘Haha, this kid lives in a trailer park and has a crappy life.’ And then by the end, it was like, ‘No this kid needs help. This family and this friendship is going to save him and ultimately allow him to thrive.’ And I think that that message resonates with so many people,” he told Us. “That your childhood is important. Friends, your boyfriend, your girlfriend, those things affect you. But I think that, especially in the nineties. … These people matter, your teachers matter, your family matters and your relationships matter.”

Duck love! Connie and Fulton may not have dated off the ice in The Mighty Ducks, but Marguerite Moreau and Elden Henson actually did in real life.

The Mighty Ducks Cast: Where Are They Now?

“I was so sweet on Fulton. We kind of dated [while filming] the first movie,” Moreau, 44, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her new film Monuments. “I can’t delve on anyone else because I’m just me, but I definitely was, you know, sweet on the boys and boy crazy.”

Marguerite Moreau and Elden Henson. David Buchan/Shutterstock; Evan Agostini/Invision/AP/Shutterstock

According to Moreau, Henson, 44, was the complete opposite of his rough around the edges character. “He’s such a little sweetheart,” she added. “And plus, his charisma is crazy when he smiles at you.”

Funny enough, Henson’s younger brother, Garette Ratliff Henson, played Moreau’s love interest in the hockey films. “I don’t think Connie and Guy’s story line is over,” she told Us, teasing season 2 of Disney+’s Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. “I mean obviously their children play hockey. Hopefully, we’ve encouraged them in a positive way in sports instead of a negative way, but we’ll have to see.”

The Mighty Ducks debuted in 1992 and introduced the young cast when Coach Bombay (Emilio Estevez) meets them for the first time and lets them ride his limousine on the ice.

Wet Hot American Summer: Where Are They Now?

“It was so cold and it was, like, 40 below and it was so shocking, but we got to climb all over the limo and go inside. That to me was so fancy,” the Parenthood alum recalled to Us. “I think we had to shoot it on two different days because we came back to shoot later and it was so hot that they had to, like, put $30,000 worth of tubes under that area to freeze it. And the first time it was 40 below and we had things taped all over us. It was freezing.”

Marguerite Moreau, Garette Henson, and Elden Henson in ‘The Mighty Ducks’. Moviestore/Shutterstock

Creator Steven Brill would go on write two more films in the franchise, introducing new characters in 1994’s D2: The Mighty Ducks. Vets such as Moreau, Joshua Jackson, the Henson brothers, Shaun Weiss, Matt Doherty, Vincent LaRusso and Justin Wong, were now joined by Colombe Jacobsen-Derstine, Aaron Lohr, Kenan Thompson and Mike Vitar.

“I was sort of sweet on [Mike] but we just flirted a lot,” Moreau told Us. “We were little flirts together.”

Although it was an adjustment welcoming newcomers, the young cast struck up friendships that have lasted till this day. “It was kind of a weird split because half our team was not able to join us in the second film. And they really kind of raised us up as a team, a bunch of little actors that really went to hockey camp and really were on a bus and really were dressed together as a team,” she explained. “And even when we were on set, our clothes were in the locker room, our uniforms and stuff when we were in the rink. It was so exciting to obviously meet new kids and make new friendships. But I think that we started with a little bit of like, ‘How is this going to work?’ Luckily, we all got along great. And that film had so many fun activities for us to do. We were off and running.”

She added: “I just can’t believe how young we were. I don’t even know how they got us to all focus when we were all together.”

The cast of ‘The Mighty Ducks’. Disney/Kobal/Shutterstock

Some of the cast has since reunited for the Disney+ spinoff, which recently got a season 2 renewal. Moreau reunited with Estevez, 59, in one episode in season 1, and has stayed in touch with him over the years.

SNL’s Most Successful Cast Members

“It was really special for me because unlike the boys, I was a 15-year-old girl, there wasn’t a lot of one-on-one time that Emilio and I were spending together. We were friendly, of course, in a group, but you know, I was 15, he was 27. There’s a big difference. So I felt very lucky and I had a different experience than the boys in getting to just be adults and chat with him,” she told Us. “We have emailed over the years because anytime we have films and stuff come out, I share it with him and we keep in contact that way. But it was really nice to just walk up and give him a huge hug because he was a huge guide in how to behave on set, how to lead a production, be the face of something. And he kind of took us all under his wing and said, ‘You know, your fans make or break you. You take care of them. You always show up on time.’ He really gave us a good framework for how to be in this business longterm if we wanted to, which was really helpful.”

Since the mega-successful franchise, Moreau has appeared in dozens of TV shows and films, including Shameless, Life as We Know It, The O.C., Ingenious, Grey’s Anatomy and Life Happens. In 2017, she reprised her role of Katie in Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later. The raunchy comedy has a stacked ensemble that includes Amy Poehler, Janeane Garofalo, Paul Rudd, Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Josh Charles, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Showalter and Michael Ian Black.

“It was really fun to make and to watch everybody explode,” she said of the original 2001 film. “I used to follow Amy Poehler around, literally like a puppy being like, ‘You’re so funny. You’re the funniest woman in America. You need to be on SNL.’ I mean, I don’t want to say I’m the reason she was on SNL, but I did proselytize.”

As for where Katie would be today? “Maybe divorced. But, you know, I wouldn’t be surprised if we do First Day of Camp Ever, but we’re all in our sixties,” she told Us, noting that she “of course” would be down to reunite with the cast once more.

No longer her cooler! Jake Johnson got his wish when Nick Miller and Jessica Day got together on New Girl, but he didn’t want them to be a couple for all seven seasons.

New Girl Cast: Where Are They Now?

“I always wanted them together. I wasn’t as excited about them being together for multiple episodes, but I always wanted them in the end to be together,” Johnson, 43, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting his film Ride the Eagle. “I grew up loving Cheers. It was my favorite show. And I wanted Sam [Ted Danson] and Diane [Shelley Long] to end up together. But I didn’t want Sam and Diane to be married season 5. So I think the battle for us was always how do we keep this thing going while you can’t repeat the goods? By we, I mean the writers. But Zooey [Deschanel] — we texted all the time. Zooey and I were very in touch with what we thought about Nick and Jess. We were like very in it together from the start.”

Johnson and Deschanel, 41, starred on the Fox comedy alongside Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone and Lamorne Morris from 2011 to 2018. While Nick and Jess were the main romance on the series, it was Nick and former college roommate Schmidt (Greenfield) that brought the bromance.

I really, really miss doing comedy with Max because we knew the bits so well. And also our crew was so sick of us because we improvised so much. So doing comedy for a group of people who kind of don’t think you’re funny for me is my favorite. Like, when you’re performing and everybody loves it and is into it, it’s fun, but it’s way better when there’s like a grumpy old guy behind the camera who thinks that you’re wasting his time. It makes everything ten times funnier,” Johnson told Us. “So everyone kind of hated Max and me.”

Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel’s Relationship Timeline

Johnson has seamlessly worked in TV and film, but it’s the small screen that he gravitates to most. “I love television. I will always like it more than films because I like working with the same people and I like stories that build,” he explained. “People talk about Nick Miller a lot and what they like about him. Well, part of that is we had seven years to develop that character. Characters can change and grow. So for a movie, you have an hour and a half and then they are gone.”

He also benefits from working consistently with the same actors and writers on set. “What I miss most about doing that is being in a situation where five days of work a week, we get unbelievable writers who write really funny situations. Why I’m excited to go back to TV is I like knowing where my costars are really funny. And I like them knowing where I’m really funny. So doing a scene with Max Greenfield, he could set me up in a way that other people can’t,” the Tag star noted. “Or Zooey and I are doing a scene. I know where Zooey’s funny and Zooey knows where I’m funny and we both can make each other laugh. Zooey and I were texting yesterday jokes. So if we’re texting bits and making each other laugh, if on tomorrow I was on set, well, that rhythm continues. When you watch a movie, you’re meeting people for the first time. So it’s like a first date. I like having old relationships because I think it makes the work together richer. There is more depth. It’s more fun. So I miss the knowledge of each other, the years of experience and the just knowing each other’s stuff.”

It’s also a plus when the project is a success. Johnson joked — but, not really — that when a show or a movie is a flop, actors are more prone to keep a distance from their former costars in Hollywood.

Best Love Triangles in TV and Movie History

“If the show would have died and faded away, nobody involved in it talks again. I’ve done projects that, like, aren’t well-received. What happens is, is they’re dead and nobody in it ever connects again. And when you see each other at a bar, you don’t discuss it,” he joked to Us. “It’s a really weird thing in Hollywood, but you never say like, ‘Oh, remember that amazing three weeks where we made that piece of dog s–t that everybody hated?’ But what’s great about New Girl is all those relationships. And we were like a family. We battled and we laughed. And now we keep talking to each other, because the thing is still alive.”

Johnson loves that youths “are responding to it” years later, thanks to Netflix. “If there’s ever a reunion, I can pitch [creator] Liz [Meriwether] bits, but that’s kind of her domain,” he told Us. “I’m really proud of the show. … I honestly, I think [parts of] Nick are with me forever. I know it’s kind of a cheesy thing to say, but Nick’s not gone from me.”

Archie Panjabi admits “it’s been so long” since she exited The Good Wife in 2014 — but she still does remember that final bar scene with Julianna Margulies.

The Good Wife Cast: Where Are They Now?

“I know we had drinks at the bar,” she exclusively told Us Weekly of how she felt about her story line ending. “No, I think I probably have to watch it again and see how I feel. Sometimes you watch stuff so many years later and you have different opinions on it.”

Julianna Marguiles and Archie Panjabi CBS

Panjabi, 49, and Margulies famously shot their last scene separately with CGI, which led to a years-long rumored feud between the two actors.

When asked of her reaction to audiences still invested in the Kalinda Sharma and Alicia Florrick exchange, she told Us: “The fact that you have people interested in the show and those characters, and they’re so invested in it, you know, it’s just a testament to how great that show was.”

Panjabi and the ER alum, 55, have never directly addressed the rumors. “Let’s put it this way. We are living in a world where everybody wants to know everything. I completely understand why everyone asks about it,” Panjabi told The New York Times in April 2020 about the supposed rift. “Everybody I meet asks me about it, in some roundabout way. I just feel like, I’m doing work because of that character. Before Kalinda, I was always coming in for a few lines and it was hard to get roles. If people always want to know what happened, OK, it’s a small price to pay for all the wonderful things that show has given me. It sounds diplomatic, but it’s how I feel.”

Biggest Costar Feuds

Five years earlier, CBS boss Nina Tassler called it a “satisfying ending” for the characters. “I’m not going to reveal movie magic,” Tassler told reporters at the CBS executive session at the TCA 2015 summer press tour. “I stand behind how Robert and Michelle [King] produce their show.”

Margulies, for her part, previously told Vulture that it was all “gossip” in October 2015. At the New Yorker Festival, she commented: “There’s no story there, sorry … I actually had heard [that rumor] and I feel that it has been talked about and answered. I feel people just like to have gossip or make something into something that isn’t there. There’s no animosity on my part. It’s a shame …”

Still, costar Alan Cumming joked about a Kalinda and Alicia reunion while speaking to Us in June 2019. He laughed, “Good luck with that!”

The Good Wife ran for seven seasons from 2009 to 2016, and also starred Josh Charles, Chris Noth, Christine Baranski and Matt Czuchry. Panjabi exited one season before the series finale.

“What do I miss most about playing Kalinda? You know, I had six years of it, so I kind of feel like, I don’t know if I miss anything,” she told Us. “It’s probably wearing the leather jacket. Because she did have a mean wardrobe of leather jackets. It’s been a long time. Yeah, the boots and the leather jacket.”

‘The Good Wife’ Cast CBS Entertainment

The Blindspot actress had a close bond with Czuchry, 44, which continues to this day. “I’m so proud. He’s done so well,” she gushed, noting she “absolutely” still keeps in touch with him. “I think he’s now on season 5 of The Resident. And, you know, he always talked about wanting to lead his own show and I’m really proud to have seen him done that now after The Good Wife. He did Gilmore [Girls] then The Good Wife and now gone on to The Resident. … He’s been so successful so I’m incredibly proud of him.”

Kalinda and Czuchry’s Cary Agos had a brief, intimate relationship on the series, but Panjabi never chalked them up to be an endgame situation.

Gilmore Girls Cast: Where Are They Now?

“I don’t think Kalinda probably wanted to end up with anybody,” she revealed. “I think Kalinda just enjoyed — she didn’t want to settle down with anyone.”

Panjabi currently plays Kendra Malley, a Transport Safety and Investigations Bureau investigator, on Peacock’s Departure. The conspiracy series focuses on one incident throughout an entire season, whereas Kalinda would often solve a new case each episode on The Good Wife as an in-house private investigator at Stern, Lockhart, Gardner.

“I think both are fun. And I feel what I love most is being able to have variety. I get bored if I do the same thing over and over again. I was blessed with The Good Wife because it was a really good, very well written show. And my character I had a lot of fun to do,” she explained. “But generally, I get bored if I’m working on the same thing day in, day out. And what’s so nice I think with The Good Wife is you had great writing. You didn’t know where your characters were going. That kind of kept you excited. With Departure, it’s quite fun to know what the end result is. And the fun comes in trying to find different leads from A to Z, how you can still make that exciting and interesting. So they’re both challenging and they’re both fun in their own way. And they both keep me on my feet.”

That doesn’t mean she’d return as Kalinda in the show’s spinoff The Good Fight, though, which was recently renewed for season 6.

“[I’ve played] Kalinda for six years and right now I’m absolutely loving having the opportunity to play different characters like Kendra on Departure,” she told Us. “So I kind of lined up doing some exciting stuff. So right now, it’s not in the cards for me.”

Robin’s right-hand man! Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s new Apple+ series, Mr. Corman, gives a nod to his work in The Dark Knight Rises — but, oddly enough, the actor didn’t read too much into it when he developed the story line.

Actors Who’ve Played Batman

In episode five, titled “Action Adventure,” his character, Josh, attends a Halloween party with his roommate, Victor (played by Arturo Castro), who goes as Batman. Even more, the best friends get into a heated argument with a partygoer that is dressed up as the Joker.

“Honestly, all the different characters in that crazy fight sequence are all sort of different archetypes of masculinity. There’s a cowboy and a soldier and a Viking. And then there’s a superhero. And when I thought, ‘OK, well, who’s the superhero? What superhero would be good for Arturo Castro to be? What superhero would [Victor] want to be?’ Obviously, he would want to be Batman. That’s who he would want to be,” Gordon-Levitt, 40, exclusively told Us Weekly about the episode, which drops on Friday, August 27. “So to be completely honest, I think it’s actually sort of a coincidence that I was in a Batman movie. But, you know, look, Batman looms large in all of our sectors.”

Heath Ledger Through the Years

The Looper actor starred as John Blake in the 2012 thriller, completing director Christopher Nolan’s trilogy of the Caped Crusader, which was played by Christian Bale. In 2008’s The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger made the Joker his own with a harrowing new look consisting of white, black and red makeup, which the Australia native applied himself, and green hair. That version of the villain was shown in Mr. Corman.

Heath Ledger as the Joker in ‘The Dark Knight.’ Warner Bros/Dc Comics/Kobal/Shutterstock

Ledger would later win a posthumous Oscar for his portrayal of the outlaw. He died at age 28 of an accidental overdose in January 2008.

Years before joining the DC Comics universe, Gordon-Levitt and Ledger starred together in 1999’s 10 Things I Hate About You. A now-famous meme shows the actors in the rom-com with the tagline: “That moment … When you find out The Joker and Robin went to high school together.”

Although the HitRecord creator’s Dark Knight Rises character went by John, it’s revealed in the final moments that his birth name is Robin. He also received Bruce Wayne’s Batman gear and the coordinates to Wayne Manor’s secret lair. Despite the revelation, Gordon-Levitt didn’t go into “Action Adventure” with the suggestion that Josh was the Robin to Victor’s Batman. (In fact, he went in a completely different costume altogether.)

“That wasn’t the thought, no. I just thought it would be really fun to have this character be Batman. I knew, of course, like, I was in Batman, so that’ll be funny, but I thought that that would also be … I guess I was looking forward to these sorts of, you know, the audience wondering these kinds of things,” he told Us. “I like it when there’s kind of meta, weird stuff going on in movies and shows.”
