There is arguably no star more dedicated to Taco Tuesday than LeBron James. The Ohio native has marked many past Tuesdays with some sort of taco celebration. In May 2019, James shared a video on his Instagram Stories of him and his family preparing, and later eating an array of tacos.

The pro athlete also marked Taco Tuesday in July 2019 by enlisting his new teammate, Anthony Davis, to help him celebrate. He has since made up a song about the weekly tradition, and in August 2019, he reportedly filed to trademark the phrase.

The Los Angeles Times reported that James’ trademark, which was filed via one of his companies, will encompass use of the term for “advertising and marketing services,” “podcasting services” and “online entertainment services.”

Another famous face who enjoys Taco Tuesday — but doesn’t take it quite so seriously — is Khloé Kardashian. In August 2019, the reality star shared a snapshot of a “Happy Taco Tuesday” cake on her Instagram Stories. Though the treat appeared without context, Kardashian is clearly a Taco Tuesday fan.

In one of the first episodes of her HBO Max series, Selena + Chef, Selena Gomez enlisted chef Roy Choi to help her learn how to make short rib breakfast tacos. The “Bad Liar” singer was ultimately so pleased with the result that she called her pal Taylor Swift to show off the dish.

“Oh, my God, what is that?” the “Cardigan” songstress asked in awe. “If you don’t send me the recipe, we’re gonna have words. I wanna be served that.”

Fellow pop star Katy Perry is also a taco superfan, to the point that she immortalized one of her favorite taco spots in the song “This Is How We Do” from 2013’s Prism. “Santa Barbara–chic at La Super-Rica, grabbing tacos, checking out hotties,” she sang on the track, referencing a California taqueria that was also beloved by the late Julia Child.

The “Roar” singer loves La Super-Rica so much that she also took a Vogue reporter there during an interview for her July 2013 cover story. It’s “superquaint and cute and inexpensive,” she told the magazine of the restaurant.

For some famous faces, like Mark Wahlberg, food runs in the family. The Massachusetts native runs an empire of more than two dozen Wahlburgers restaurants with his brothers Paul, a chef, and Donnie, who is also an actor. The success of the fast-casual chain, which boasts locations all over the country and in Canada, has even been documented on the Emmy-nominated TV series, aptly titled Wahlburgers.

For others, such as Channing Tatum, the shift to the hospitality business came after making it big in Tinseltown. The 21 Jump Street star opened a restaurant and bar called Saints and Sinners in New Orleans, Louisiana, following several childhood visits and numerous on-location film shoots in the southern city. Talk about getting inspired!

Ryan Gosling, who is part-owner of the Beverly Hills restaurant Tagine, also has Hollywood to thank for his interest in the food industry. The Crazy, Stupid, Love actor teamed up with Moroccan-born chef Abdessamad Benameur after tasting the cook’s ethnic eats at a Los Angeles party.

And while restaurants can be very lucrative for Hollywood heavyweights (just look at Robert De Niro’s Nobu empire), not all celebs are in it for the money. Musician Jon Bon Jovi, for example, opened his first pay-what-you-wish JBJ Soul Kitchen restaurant in 2011. The Garden State eatery serves anyone and everyone, and only asks that customers donate what they can to cover operating costs.

Case in point? Duchess Kate, who was decked out in head-to-toe green and Prince William each sipped on a pint of Guinness in March 2019 in Hounslow, England, in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. The future king and queen were on hand to meet with Irish Guards after attending the holiday parade at Cavalry Barracks.

And that’s not the only time the parents of three enjoyed a beer together, either. Back in July 2017, both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were spotted toasting with the popular drink after competing against one another in a rowing race in Germany.

In addition to sipping on a pint every now and again, the royal couple has been known to serve them, too. In February 2019, Kate stepped behind a bar in Ireland and tried her hand at pouring a pint all while wearing a designer dress, and she managed to do it without splashing her green gown.

As you might have guessed, other members of the royal family, such as Prince Harry and Prince Charles, are beer fans as well. Harry, who tends to be a bit more relaxed than his older brother when it comes to royal protocol, has even been spotted with a beer in St. James’s Palace, a royal residence he and his family once called home.

In May 2021, the Duke of Cambridge enjoyed a brew with first responders ahead of the Scottish Cup final. “Taking this opportunity to thank Emergency Responders for their dedication and commitment over the last year,” the official Kensington Royal account tweeted at the time.

Though the group enjoyed a relaxing afternoon of watching soccer, they found time to discuss more serious matters as well.

“Many of the emergency responders today were open about the mental health challenges they’ve experienced during the pandemic and how they coped throughout,” Kensington Royal added in another tweet. “We must ensure that all emergency responders receive the mental health support they need.”

While celebrity wine labels currently outnumber tequila brands backed by famous faces, the Mexican libation has seen an influx of celebrity interest in recent months. For example, good friends and former Breaking Bad costars Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston announced the upcoming release of their own Dos Hombres Mezcal (a drink very similar to tequila) in June 2019. The spirit hit shelves the following month.

Prior to the debut, the actors teased their latest venture with a series of cryptic social media posts, leading many fans to believe that a Breaking Bad reboot or movie was in the works. When the duo finally revealed their drink after weeks of speculation, some fans were less than thrilled.

“Three years ago we sat in a sushi bar in New York. Talking about life and what we could possibly do down the road together. We had the time of our lives while shooting Breaking Bad and truly built a very special bond. Knowing that we couldn’t share the screen for quite a while – our thoughts turned to a new project,” a joint Instagram post from the stars explained at the time.

They added: “We are crazy about the taste, the aroma, and the versatility of this smokey, age-old alcohol.”

When Dos Hombres celebrated its first anniversary in July 2020, the Truth Be Told star took the opportunity to show his appreciation for the brand’s fans. “Thank you. All of you. For making the @doshombres dream a reality. Today we’re celebrating our 1 year anniversary the best way we know how – having Dos Hombres. Lots of it,” he shared at the time. “It’s been an incredible year and we’re just getting started.”

By March 2020, there was another big player in the tequila game — Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The Baywatch star celebrated his libation with a soft launch amid the coronavirus pandemic and has posted a series of cocktail tutorials using Teremana on his Instagram account. Stars including Martha Stewart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have crafted cocktail recipes that are just too tasty to ignore. In June 2020, for example, the Titan Games host shared the recipe for his Watermelon Manarita via an Instagram video.

The refreshing cocktail, which boasts Johnson’s own Teremana Blanco Tequila as its base, is also made with fresh watermelon pieces, agave nectar, lime juice and water. “Let me know how you like the official drink of the summer,” the Central Intelligence star captioned the clip of himself making the drink. “Considering the year we’ve already had, here’s to better and brighter days ahead. You deserve it!”

He later added: “I raise this Teremana toast to my mana Ohana. What a crazy year we’ve already had but to better and brighter days the rest of this summer. You certainly deserve it — we deserve it.”

The Baywatch star also shared recipes for a classic margarita and a tropical drink known as the Bae Breeze.

For Bachelor alum Hannah Godwin, it’s all about the frosé. “I think we all can agree that Yes Way, Rosé is a summertime anthem we can still get behind,” she told Us Weekly in July 2020. “For a new spin on the seasonal staple, I’ve been trying out new rosé recipes and love RumHaven’s strawberry frosé.”

She continued: “I’m always trying to make sure I’m being mindful of what I eat and drink, so for me RumHaven is a great go-to since it’s made with real coconut water and no artificial flavors or preservatives. Their Strawberry Frose recipe is one of my favorites for summer to help cool down after a hot day on the lake or at the beach!”

If you don’t even want to bother with all the mixing, stirring and shaking associated with throwing together a cocktail, give something like Malvasia Bianca orange wine a try. The unusually-hued drink, which gets its color from open-top fermentation techniques, is becoming increasingly popular and both Molly Sims and Lizzy Caplan are fans.

Another hassle-free cocktail option is Loverboy, a brand of ready-to-drink craft beverages founded by Summer House stars Kyle Cooke, Amanda Batula and Carl Radke. The canned beverages come in three low-calorie flavors — white tea peach, hibiscus pom and lemon iced tea. There’s also a line of Loverboy spritzes.

Take the “Ain’t Your Mama” singer, for example. When she celebrated her 50th birthday on Star Island in Miami in July 2019, her birthday treat was a true showstopper. For starters, the massive cake consisted of 10 elegantly decorated tiers. Each tier featured black and gold accents, but we’re not talking about just any metallic hue — Lopez’s festive dessert sported some expensive 24-karat gold embellishments.

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, the Grammy nominee’s lavish, towering pastry was also bedazzled with Swarovski crystals and featured an edible flower design as well as several sparklers at the base. Lopez’s cake needed to be carried into the venue by five men and reportedly cost a cool $10,000.

Though the cake Ripa was surprised with during an October 2018 episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan wasn’t quite as extravagant, the large pastry, which was designed to look like a humungous peanut butter and jelly sandwich, was arguably just as impressive. The treat, which was given to Ripa on her 48th birthday, was an unexpected gift from her cohost, Ryan Seacrest. It was so big that it broke records.

“I spent the whole year hearing about Kelly having PB&J in her bed,” Seacrest told the audience at the time, explaining why he chose such an interesting treat. “Her husband [Mark Consuelos] would bring these in, they would eat them and now, this is the world’s largest.”

According to the television personality, the “bread” of this larger-than-life creation was made of pound cake, while a generous helping of peanut butter and jelly rested in the middle. The treat was made by Brooklyn-based pastry chef Michael Lechowicz, who owns and operates Charlotte Patisserie, a bakery that specializes in creating themed and one-of-kind desserts.

Amy Schumer was presented with a LOL-worthy cake when she celebrated her baby shower in January 2019 and Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan commissioned a stunning lemon elderflower creation when they tied the knot in May 2018.

Take Taylor Swift, for example. In July 2015, the “Look What You Made Me Do” songstress headed up to her house in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, with her then-boyfriend Calvin Harris and wasted no time assuming her hostess duties by jumping behind the grill.

“She cooks too,” the music producer and DJ captioned an Instagram photo of the Grammy winner turning slices of sweet potato on the grill using a pair of tongs. However, Harris deleted the sweet snapshot after he and Swift broke up the following June.

That year, the songstress’ star-studded Independence Day party was attended by Gigi Hadid, Martha Hunt, Empire alum Serayah McNeill and the band Haim. “Happy 4th from me, @GiGiHadid @iammarthahunt @britmaack @SerayahLove and @HAIMtheband,” she captioned a photo of the group taking a plunge into the pool.

Another Fourth of July barbecue fan is Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello. He fired up the grill in July 2017 and made several steaks for the occasion. His wife, Sofia Vergara, even snapped a photo of him in action. “Serious 4th of July business ❤️❤️,” she captioned an Instagram picture of the actor toiling away. “Happy Independence day!!!!”

Exactly two years earlier, Manganiello made dozens of hamburgers for a similar celebration. “Happy 4th!” he captioned an Instagram photo of himself working the grill at the time.

While barbecuing is certainly a big part of summer holidays, it can also be a fun bonding activity for some couples or pals. When it came time to wish his friend Jimmy Fallon a happy birthday in September 2017, Justin Timberlake took to Instagram to share a snapshot of the duo working the grill together. “Remember that time when we were just two bros hanging out, drinking beer, grilling hamburgers and hot dogs and talking about life and who had the better hairline and who was always the first to crack up in our sketches,” he joked in the caption. “Just two bros. Take Sarah Jessica Parker, for example. The Sex and the City alum first entered the wine business in March 2019 with the release of Invivo X, SJP Sauvignon Blanc. She followed that blend up with Invivo X, Sarah Jessica Parker Rosé, which debuted in May 2020.

Another star who is relatively new to the rosé game is Post Malone. The rapper, whose real name is Austin Post, confirmed in May 2020 that he would be releasing his own wine by the end of the following month. “Rosé is for when you want to get a little fancy,” he said in the announcement. “It’s a nice switch up and I have been thinking about doing my own wine for a while.”

The wine, Maison No. 9, is billed as “a light, high-quality, accessible rosé” that has been “designed to break down the traditional perceptions around wine and its barriers for consumers.”

Take John Legend, for example. The “All of Me” singer is so fond of the well-known wine variety that he created his own versions of it via his LVE Wines company. The brand’s first rosé blend, LVE Côtes de Provence Rosé, debuted in June 2018 and is a pale pink in color. It boasts aromatic notes of peach blossom, raspberry and apricot.

At the time, Legend noted via his Instagram that he was “excited” to finally reveal the rosé, which took plenty of time to perfect.

The Academy Award winner followed that wine up with a sparkling version in June 2019. “LVE Sparkling Rosé is the perfect addition to your summer celebrations,” Legend said in a statement at the time. The effervescent drink is made with grapes that were selected from a blend of vineyards in well-known growing regions of France, such as the Loire and Languedoc.

“I’ve always loved wine — trying something new when I travel, enjoying with loved ones, and pairing it with great meals,” the “Conversations in the Dark” crooner told Haute Living in August 2019. “I’ve been told by fans they like to drink a glass of wine when they listen to my music, so it seemed like the right collaboration.”

Another rosé lover who went ahead and crafted his own version of the beverage is Post Malone. The “Circles” singer debuted his Maison No. 9 Rosé in June 2020 and it became an instant hit. Malone’s pal, Justin Bieber, even posed with a bottle of the booze on his Instagram Stories the following month and congratulated his friend on a job well done.

For stars such as Reese Witherspoon, on the other hand, rosé is something you sip when you’re kicking back and relaxing. The Little Fires Everywhere star posed with a glass and bottle of the pink drink in July 2018 while watching the French soccer team play in the World Cup.

Some celebrities, however, don’t need a designated day in order to chow down on one of the fried sweet treats. Us Weekly has rounded up snapshots of stars eating the tasty confection in honor of the food-centric holidays, including Ben Affleck, Prince Harry and Kaitlyn Bristowe.

“I have Dunkin’ Donuts every day,” the Good Will Hunting actor told Collider in March 2019 of the Massachusetts-headquartered doughnut and coffee company. “It’s very weird. I have it every day and people are always like, ‘Where is that? Is that near here?’ So, I feel like I’m spreading the word.”

Kim Kardashian and her sisters have been spotted eating the beloved food over the years as well. The Skims creator was gifted a box of glazed Krispy Kremes by her mom, Kris Jenner, for Valentine’s Day in February 2019 and has been seen indulging on camera from time to time too.

A month prior, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star stopped at a doughnut truck in San Francisco before getting on a plane back to Los Angeles to party with John Legend.

Harry, for his part, purchased a box full of jelly and custard-filled confections during a visit to Borough Market in London in 2017. The former military pilot’s trip to the venue took place one day after it reopened following terror attacks in the city several days prior.

Former Bachelorette couple Bristowe and Shawn Booth once used doughnuts as a symbol of their love. The duo, who got engaged in 2015 on the season 11 finale of the ABC series, celebrated their first Valentine’s Day together the following year by feeding one another heart-shaped versions of the popular breakfast food at a Dunkin’ in California. The pair called it quits in November 2018.

In fact, the cookware designer loves the snack so much she shared the recipe for it with her Twitter followers amid the coronavirus pandemic in April 2020. “Here you go, friends. I know I should tell you to buy the book but in these times, you deserve it 💕,” she tweeted at the time, along with a photo of the complete recipe.

However, the star’s love of cheese hardly ends with just one dish. She’s also a devoted nachos fan and doesn’t discriminate when it comes to the various types of the dairy product.

In an August 2014 interview with Esquire, the Bring the Funny judge dubbed American cheese the most “underrated cheese.” She has since waxed poetic about multiple variations of the staple on Twitter. In fact, a birthday present she received in December 2019 involved the tasty substance. “Two of my birthday gifts. A cheese wiz cheesesteak from Pat’s and a barefoot dreams blanket,” she tweeted at the time, along with a picture of her cheese-covered meal.

For Buddy vs. Duff star Buddy Valastro, the best cheesy recipes are those that are made with love. As the Next Great Baker alum told Us exclusively in June 2019, one of his most beloved dishes was actually created by his wife, Lisa Valastro.

Take Kourtney Kardashian, for example. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star wasted no time firing back at some Instagram users who questioned whether she was pregnant after she posted a series of bikini photos to the social media platform in May 2020. The E! personality already shares sons Mason and Reign, as well as daughter Penelope, with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick.

“This is me when I have a few extra pounds on, and I actually love it,” Kardashian responded while shooting down any pregnancy rumors. “I have given birth three amazing times and this is the shape of my body.”

Kardashian referenced her epic clapback about a week later during a YouTube discussion with members of her Poosh team.

“I commented back and said, ‘This is the shape of my body. I gained a few pounds over this quarantine time, and I love my body and I’m proud of my shape and I’m obviously posting it and this is the shape of my body,” she explained. “I don’t think I look pregnant at all.”

While some celebrities have no problem opening up about a little weight gain, others have made it their mission to stop any extra pounds from piling on. Shortly after the coronavirus quarantine began in March 2020, Vanderpump Rules stars Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright placed a scale directly in front of their refrigerator.

The funny gimmick was intended to deter the Bravo stars from any unnecessary eating and Taylor shared a peek at it on Twitter using only the 😂 emoji.

“I need the scale in front of my snack cabinet,” one of the SUR bartender’s Twitter followers declared at the time. Added another: “Love the scale in front of the fridge! I’m stealing that idea.”

However, while some stars may have put on weight and others are wary of any extra poundage, data from Withings — the makers of digital scales — released in May 2020 showed that most people aren’t expanding their waistlines by much.

According to the France-based company, Americans gained an average of just 0.21 pounds in April 2020, based on anonymous data from more than 100,000 people via the brand’s wifi-enabled scales. Additionally, Withings found that only 37 percent of Americans gained more than a pound.

Take Ayesha Curry, for example. In May 2020, the Full Plate author revealed that she lost 35 pounds while quarantined amid the COVID-19 pandemic and two months later she provided a bit more insight into why she wanted to slim down.

“I started my fitness journey because I wanted to be strong and healthy for myself and the people who depend on me,” she captioned a July 2020 Instagram photo of herself wearing a pink sports bra and black gym shorts. “But it was important that I did it my way, which meant I needed working out to fit in my life, NOT take me away from it.”

The Ayesha’s Home Kitchen alum added: “I don’t think there’s any formula that works for everyone, but I do believe that creating time for yourself to exercise is never time wasted. So I went to work finding ways to incorporate healthy habits into my busy schedule, and picked up a few tricks along the way (easy 10-minute workouts, fast healthy recipes, etc.).”

For Daphne Oz, who began her quest to lose weight after the birth of her fourth child a few months before the health crisis started, staying on track during a time of such uncertainty has been tough. Yet the Philadelphia native, who is a WW ambassador, credited her WW coach with keeping her focused on her goals.

Oz has also found creative ways to keep herself on track while in quarantine. “I wear jeans (shorts ☀️) at least once a week. I started this ‘tradition’ a few weeks into quarantine and have to say, it’s really helped keep me honest,” she shared in a June 2020 Instagram post. “It is so easy to keep treating myself when the days are long or stressful and not really ever register whether I’m making those choices count.”

Kardashian, who shares daughter Penelope and sons Mason and Reign with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, even got into an argument with her sister Kim Kardashian over the sweets they were going to serve at Penelope and Kim’s daughter North’s joint Candy Land-themed birthday in June 2019.

While Kim (who ultimately won the fight) wanted traditional candies as well as ice cream, cake and more treats, Kourtney advocated for salads and healthier sweets, insisting that candy causes aging and food coloring “gives people diseases.”

Though Kourtney has been known to ease up on the healthy eating every so often, her family is well aware of the dietary restrictions she imposes. Kim made a veiled reference to those rules in June 2019 when she and Mason snacked on popcorn kernels and ice cream sandwiches together. “When I baby sit [sic],” the KKW Beauty founder captioned an Instagram photo of the duo enjoying their treats.

Another star who is a stickler for healthy eating is Jennifer Lopez, who relies on her private chef, Kelvin Fernandez, to whip up an array of nutritious meals and snacks that keep her on track.

The culinary pro told Us Weekly exclusively in April 2020 that he cooked for Lopez for an entire month prior to her February 2020 performance during the Super Bowl LIV halftime show. “The cool thing about it was, that woman, when she has a goal, she has a goal. It’s time to say, ‘Kelvin, here’s the diet plan. Here are the things that I want to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner,’” he said, noting that her “intense” pre-show diet eliminated carbs and sugar.

“I’ve never had breakfast vegetables before, but this woman was having egg white scramble with vegetables three different ways and every single day,” he continued. “When she wants something healthy, she’ll stick to it.”

However, Top Chef has changed and evolved over the years. As diehard fans may recall, the first season of the reality TV staple was different from the show viewers know and love today. For starters, while Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons served as judges during season 1, Padma Lakshmi was nowhere in sight. Instead, the inaugural season was hosted by Katie Lee.

Lakshmi began hosting in season 2 and holds the job to this day. Similarly, Colicchio and Simmons still serve as judges, though they have been joined by a rotating cast of other culinary pros over the years, such as Emeril Lagasse and the late Anthony Bourdain.

“There was a moment of us not really knowing where this would take us and thank goodness it resonated. We worked really hard to make something that everyone is proud of,” Simmons told Entertainment Tonight in April 2021 as she reflected on the past 15 years of the fast-paced cooking series.

As with most reality competition shows, some Top Chef winners have fared better than others since their time on the show. Harold Dieterle, for example, was the first person ever to be crowned Top Chef and later opened three eateries in New York City’s West Village after his victory.

After those restaurants eventually shuttered in 2014 and 2015, Dieterle then took a break from the business for a few years. He returned in October 2019 with the debut of Ten Hope, a Mediterranean eatery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where he is a consulting chef. He also runs HD Hospitality, a restaurant consulting business.

Izard, who walked away victorious at the end of Top Chef’s fourth season, used her talent and success on the Bravo hit to establish a group of restaurants in Chicago, including the wildly popular Girl & the Goat, Duck Duck Goat and more.

Aside from an impressive crop of winners, Top Chef has minted other cooking stars who didn’t place first in their respective seasons, but went on to make big waves in the culinary world nonetheless. Carla Hall, for example, failed to win during seasons 5 and 8 (the first all-stars cycle), but still nabbed a cohost position on The Chew in September 2011. She occupied that role until the show’s series finale in June 2018.

Take Reese Witherspoon, for example. The Little Fires Everywhere star took to her Instagram in February 2020 to “support the dreams of young female entrepreneurs” — a.k.a. share a brief video of herself snacking on some Thin Mints. The cute clip even got the attention of Instagram newbie Matthew Perry, who quipped in the comments, “I can’t even begin to understand what is going on there.”

Julianne Hough also weighed in on Witherspoon’s post and outed herself as a Girl Scout cookie fan when she commented: “I just ate a whole box of thin mints (from the freezer) last night! 🙌🏼 #supportingyoungfemaleentrepreneurs 😍.”

Though Jason Momoa is known to maintain a fairly strict diet, especially if he’s bulking up for a role, the Conan the Barbarian star has a soft spot for Girl Scout cookies. When a Girl Scout named Charlotte Holmberg redesigned her “Momoas” boxes in 2019 to include a shirtless photo of the Stargate: Atlantis alum, it didn’t take long for Momoa to find out about her creative idea.

In response, the actor later told Entertainment Tonight in February of that year that he loves Girl Scout cookies and even has a go-to variety. “I was waiting to get some free ones,” he told the outlet. “I’d love some. I want the shortbread — and then you put those in the freezer, and that’s the best way.”

Tom Hanks counts himself as another proud Girl Scout cookie fan. In February 2015, the A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood star stopped to buy four boxes of cookies from a group of Girl Scouts in the San Francisco Bay Area. The actor also posed for photos with the future leaders, donated an extra $20 to their hardworking troop and even stayed on hand for a bit in an attempt to help them sell some more boxes.

However, some commercials, especially the food-focused ones, are remembered fondly for years after they debut. Take Betty White’s Snickers ad for example. The 2010 spot featured the Hot in Cleveland alum assuming the role of Mike, a young guy playing football with his friends in a park.

After Mike (who is actually White) gets tackled during a play and pushed in the mud, one of his pals tells him, “You’re playing like Betty White out there,” and he gets angry. At that point, Mike’s girlfriend offers him a Snickers to get him back on track. After taking a bite, White vanishes and Mike reappears, assuming his actual identity.

The commercial ends with the now memorable catchphrase: “You’re not you when you’re hungry.”

The popular ad featuring The Proposal actress spawned several more as part of the same campaign. Those subsequent commercials starred celebrities such as the late Robin Williams, Joe Pesci and more.

Another memorable Super Bowl spot from years past is the 2001 Pepsi ad that capitalized on Britney Spears’ rising pop stardom. The commercial combined the “Baby One More Time” songstress’ signature sound with an old Pepsi jingle, creating an earworm that was hard to forget.

Though singers showing up in Pepsi commercials is nothing new — Michael Jackson famously appeared in a 1984 ad — Spears’ turn seemingly opened the door for other contemporaneous artists and musicians to follow in her footsteps. Case in point: Beyoncé, Cardi B, and Super Bowl LIV halftime performers Jennifer Lopez and Shakira have all appeared in Pepsi spots since, though not all of them have debuted during a Super Bowl.

In other instances, food brands have used their Super Bowl ads as a way to tap into the cultural zeitgeist. For example, Bud Light and HBO joined forces in 2019 to create a commercial that drummed up enthusiasm about the final season of Game of Thrones (which premiered a few months later) using the fictional world of Dilly Dilly.

Take Kim Kardashian, for example. Though the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star is currently following a plant-based diet at home along with her kids, cheese was a very important part of her eating regimen when she was pregnant with her first child, North West, back in 2013.

During a Mobio Insider Q&A in December of that year (about six months after North was born), the E! personality revealed her pregnancy cravings and there was clearly a common theme. “Mostly cheese, chili cheese fries, everything with cheese,” she said at the time.

Since Kardashian now tries to eat vegan food when she can, she’s had to make some small adjustments to a few of her go-to foods and snacks. Case in point: When the California native wanted something to eat on Super Bowl Sunday in February 2020, she feasted on chips and vegan spinach and artichoke dip made with dairy-free cheese.

Another cheese lover, Cameron Diaz, goes for the real thing whenever she can. In her 2013 work, The Body Book, the Gangs of New York star revealed that her love of the flavorful food knows no bounds. “I love cheese,” she declared. “String cheese, Cheddar, goat, Parmesan, Gouda, feta, blue, double-triple-cream, Brie. I love that cheese.”

Chrissy Teigen is such a fan of cheese that it played a large role in a special present she received in December 2019. “Two of my birthday gifts. A cheese wiz cheesesteak from Pat’s and a barefoot dreams blanket,” she tweeted at the time, along with a picture of her cheese-covered dinner from the City of Brotherly Love.

Hilary Duff, on the other hand, was happy to learn that her affinity for cheese was passed down to her son, Luca. After calling the substance “the key to a happy life” and revealing she “can’t say no to it,” the “So Yesterday” songstress told Shape in 2015: “There’s a cheese shop in Beverly Hills and my car is like a magnet to it. Luca is crazy about it too.”
