Though it's not exactly a glowing endorsement, it's certainly nice to see her pass the baton and give someone else a shot. 

So far, teaser and full-length trailers for the new show find Serratos as the spitting-image of Selena, especially when she slips on that bold red lip and signature high-waisted purple bodysuit.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Serratos opened up about why taking on the role was so special for her. "When I was younger, I remember hearing her music in the house," she said. "When I got older, YouTube became a big thing and I discovered this video of her performing ‘Que Creias.' Whenever I would talk about Selena, that was the video I showed every one of her. I was able to perform that song on the show, and I was so nervous and so excited! I didn't want to speak to anyone because that was my special moment with her. It was really incredible!"

Reflecting on Gloria's late mother, the woman who Emily considers "literally my best friend," Gloria also shared advice for anyone struggling. "Listen, everybody, open yourself up to the messages that your loved ones are giving you constantly," she says. "I believe, firmly, that there's a million ways and it's always gonna be in a way that only you would know and only you would recognize. They have gotten us through the toughest moments of our lives even when they've been gone."

Elsewhere in the episode, the group discuss just how stubborn Gloria's mother was in certain moments. "I knew that she couldn't help it sometimes," she says, "and one day she came close to an apology by saying to me, in a rage, because you know she'd be enraged in a split second, she said to me, ‘I don't know why I do these things. I don't know why I can't control myself or say what I'm feeling.' And I took it as an apology."

Ultimately, it's the memory of the strong, powerful matriarch they grew up with that brings Gloria joy. "Mom was such a huge presence," she says. "She sang beautifully, she was gorgeous, she looked like Liz Taylor. No matter what she was doing, she was dressed and made up to the nines."

Unlike Clare Crawley's run on the show, Matt seems to connect with several women who claim to be "so in love" with him after finding instant chemistry. The competition appears to get close as the ladies burst into tears and freak out at each other, sharing catty phrases like "it looks like you have a guilty conscious," "you have no class"  and "I'm not here for the girls, I'm here for Matt."

Who will be the classiest of them all? The Bachelor returns on Monday, Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

So what is it about the series that's so addicting? Based on Walter Tevis' 1983 novel of the same name, The Queen's Gambit is essentially about an orphan who develops refined chess skills that takes her all across the globe and leave her with plenty of emotional and psychological scars. Vague, but accurate. 

As Vulture recently pointed out, the show follows the glamorous, sexy and highly-stylized storytelling approach familiar to fans of Mad Men and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Yes, the '60s fashion is fantastic and the set design is so good it'll make you consider taking on a DIY wallpaper project. The looks of the show are worthy of praise.

But I can trim down my obsession to three main categories. First, it is incredibly refreshing to see Beth, a fierce and feminist female lead in a male-dominated world, completely exercise control over her opponents' egos—even when she sometimes loses at a game she's so passionate about. Her relationship with drugs and alcohol is presented in a rock 'n' roll manner that Hollywood often doesn't let women explore. Plus, anyone like me who loved Taylor-Joy's performances in The Witch and Split will be delighted. (Feel free to get lost in the videos of her speaking flawless Spanish).  

The second category is Beth's mother, Mrs. Alma Wheatley, played by The Diary of a Teenage Girl alum Marielle Heller. Throughout, the show's writers give us a complex mother-daughter relationship that keeps you guessing yet ultimately (and strangely) warms your heart. No spoilers, but episode four, "Middle Game," in which Beth and Mrs. Wheatley travel to Mexico City together, is my absolute favorite. 

Lastly, and arguably most importantly, the series is full of eye candy in the form of actors Harry Melling, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Marcin Dorociński and twins Matthew and Russell Dennis Lewis. The sweetest of them all, in my opinion, is Jacob Fortune-LLoyd, who plays an opponent and journalist named Townes.

Unlike Netflix series you can leave on in the background and return to without missing a twist, The Queen's Gambit is best enjoyed with a massive bowl of popcorn and your eyes hooked exclusively on the screen. Ranked the number one Netflix show in 63 countries, from Argentina to South Africa, it offers a rare reason to collectively come together to set aside our differences and instead focus on the trivialities of Beth's next move. 

Rather than zip right through all seven episodes overnight, I've waited several days to watch the very last, letting the magic that Taylor-Joy brought to life marinate before I officially say goodbye to what's already being labeled one of 2020's best TV shows. Considering millions of people already know how it ends, it certainly sounds well worth the wait. 

A new promo for the show finds Thiessen and the panelists teasing all the eye candy to come. "The only thing that people love more than delicious food is delicious food fails," a voiceover says as clips flash of a woman dropping an entire fresh-out-the-oven turkey and a man literally nose-diving into a Thanksgiving dinner table.

The premiere of Deliciousness also marks the start of a one week holiday-themed MTV event from Dec. 14 to 18. Earlier this month, MTV announced the Dec. 9 premiere of The Challenge, which is returning for season 36. Dubbed The Challenge: Double Agents, it finds rookies (like Survivor winner Natalie Anderson) and veterans (like CT) following the partner format to compete for that $1 million prize.

Consider us booked and busy (in front of the TV) next month.

Brie said, "So what I'm saying is don't hold your breath because if it does happen, it might take a minute." 

Just like loyal Glow viewers, Brie also hates that the series had to come to an end. "It's definitely a bummer," she said. "I'm going to miss playing with those incredible women and Marc Maron and Chris Lowell. But you know, we're so lucky. We're lucky that we got to make three, to me, perfect seasons of a show. I love it so much and it will live on Netflix forever. So people can still check it out."

Following news of the cancelation, Flahive and Mensch encouraged fans to consider the bigger picture. "COVID has killed actual humans," they wrote in a joint statement. "It's a national tragedy and should be our focus. COVID also apparently took down our show. Netflix has decided not to finish filming the final season of Glow." 

They added, "There's a lot of s--tty things happening in the world that are much bigger than this right now. But it still sucks that we don't get to see these 15 women in a frame together again. We'll miss our cast of weirdo clowns and our heroic crew. It was the best job. Register to vote. And please vote." Fingers crossed they'll reunite for some sort of special project.
