During an interview with Capital FM in the United Kingdom, the actress revealed that the Australian hunk abstained from eating meat prior to their kissing scene.

She joked that it wasn't easy for Hemsworth because he bulks up for the superhero movies by eating'meat like every half hour' on top of his grueling workouts.

Aside from the jokes, the Black Swan star recalled being impressed by Hemsworth's thoughtfulness, especially since she'd never asked him to give up his carnivorous ways for her.

'Wow, that was really thoughtful. That's not something I'm upset about or care about, but he was simply being considerate. 'He's just a really nice guy,' she exclaimed.

During the Capital FM interview, she was joined by her other Thor: Love And Thunder co-star, Tessa Thompson, who joked that she "didn't even know [Hemsworth] could go without eating meat."

'He's like eating bison first thing in the morning.' That's fantastic.'

After decades of vegetarianism, Portman went vegan in 2011. Unlike a vegetarian diet, which excludes meat, a vegan diet excludes meat as well as animal products such as dairy, eggs, and honey.

The vegan actress, like Hemsworth, was asked to bulk up her famously petite figure for her character Jane Foster's transformation into the Mighty Thor.

It was the first time the Oscar winner had been asked to gain weight for a role, and she had previously revealed that she lifted weights and drank protein shakes to get into superhero shape.

She is said to have trained for ten months to become her character, who is supposed to be six feet tall - nearly ten inches taller than her 5'3" height "height.

'I definitely grew to be the biggest I've ever been,' she added. 'You understand, "'Oh, how different it must be to walk through the world like this.'

She added, laughing, "As a five-foot-three woman, I doubt I'll ever be cast as a 6-foot character again." I loved it when people noticed how big I was.'

Portman compared the process to her Oscar-winning performance in 2010's Black Swan, in which she famously lost 20 pounds through diet and exercise but now had to gain weight and muscle.

'I was asked to get as small as possible on Black Swan,' she reveals. 'I was told to grow as big as possible here. That's an incredible challenge - and also a woman's state of mind.'

Best: "That's so thoughtful." He was just being thoughtful; I'm not furious or concerned. He's pretty kind. Portman exclaimed

Portman's epic superhero transformation was also well received by her children, Amalia, five, and Aleph, eleven, whom she shares with husband Benjamin Millepied, who were overjoyed to see their mother in action.

'I feel like I'm at the point in my career where I'm just trying to impress my kids,' Portman told Variety.

'My 5-year-old and 10-year-old were enthralled by the process of visiting the set and seeing me dressed up in a cape.' It added to the cool factor. It's unusual for my children to say, "Please go to work!" Usually, the opposite is true. '

Despite the film's mixed-yet-positive reviews, Thor: Love And Thunder emerged triumphant at the weekend box office with $143 million debut.

According to Variety, the newest Marvel Cinematic Universe entry fell just short of expectations, which were for a $150 million opening.

The fourth solo Thor film starring Chris Hemsworth currently has a B+ CinemaScore.

Twitter has slammed Elon Musk's attempts to abandon his $44 billion takeover of the social media giant, calling his arguments 'invalid and wrongful.'

The Tesla billionaire has stated that he wishes to cancel the agreement he reached in late April because the company allegedly vastly underestimated the number of bot accounts on the platform.

Mr. Musk's and the other Musk Parties' purported termination is invalid and wrongful, and it constitutes a repudiation of their obligations under the Agreement [to buy the company],' according to the company's lawyers Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.

According to a letter sent to the Securities and Exchange Commission on Sunday, Twitter kept their end of the bargain and "has not suffered and is not likely to suffer a Company Material Adverse Effect."

Musk has repeatedly claimed that Twitter's estimate that 5% of accounts were bots was exaggerated - but has yet to produce evidence to back up his claim.

The letter comes at the start of what is expected to be a lengthy legal battle between the world's richest man and Twitter as the latter seeks to enforce the agreement.

After Musk tried to kill the deal on Friday, the tech titan retaliated by dragging him to Delaware Chancery Court to force the merger through.

If Twitter sues Musk for withdrawing, the company faces $1 billion in damages under the terms of the Merger Agreement.

Twitter's stock price dropped in response to the expected termination of the deal.

The company's shares were trading at $32.65 before trading began on Tuesday, down 15% from the $38.75 it closed the day at on Thursday.

Musk agreed to take the tech behemoth private in late April for $54.20 per share.

The giant traded at $32.65 on Tuesday, down 15% from Thursday's $38.75.

In recent days, the billionaire has repeatedly mocked Twitter's legal action against him for backing out of his $44 billion takeover with a series of memes.

Musk, 51, shared a photo of Chuck Norris at a chess board, one pawn confidently staring down a full set of black pieces.

Another appeared to mock the social media giant for taking legal action because it would require them to reveal their spam bot details, which he desired.

The comments were posted alongside images of him laughing hysterically on the right side.

However, the world's richest man avoided the subject when he spoke at the Sun Valley Conference in Idaho on Saturday, but he eventually spoke out through memes.

Elon Musk avoided discussing his $44 billion Twitter takeover at Sun Valley on Saturday.

'They said I couldn't buy Twitter,' one of them said. Then they wouldn't reveal bot information.

'Now they want me to buy Twitter first in court.' They must now disclose bot information in court.'

'Chuckmate,' he captioned a post featuring legendary TV hardman Chuck Norris.

Musk responded to a user who mentioned the number of spambots they see on the site on a regular basis.

The South African simply wrote, 'Hellow??? @SECGov,' the Securities and Exchange Commission's Twitter handle.

Twitter hired a powerful Delaware-based law firm on Sunday to sue Musk for backing out of his $44 billion deal to buy the company.

With the hiring of Wachtell, the company gains access to former Delaware Chancery Court Chancellors Leo Strine and Bill Savitt.

Delaware's chancery courts handle non-jury proceedings that are overseen by chancellors, who are judges.

They frequently deal with business issues, with many top US firms, including Twitter, locating their corporate headquarters there even if their main offices are elsewhere.

Chancery courts cannot order punitive damages and hear cases more quickly than criminal courts, so the Twitter case is likely to be resolved within a few months.

Musk hired Emanual Urquhart & Sullivan LLP, the firm that defended him in a defamation case in 2019 and is currently representing him in a Tesla lawsuit.

The billionaire entrepreneur and Tesla and SpaceX CEO took the stage at the Allen & Co Sun Valley Conference, an annual gathering of media and technology executives in Idaho, less than 24 hours after announcing the cancellation of his $44 billion deal to buy Twitter Inc.

Musk's arrival at the conference, dubbed the "billionaires' summer camp," jolted the off-the-record event this week, where the headline-making usually occurs without the presence of the media.

The interview was conducted by Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research company funded by Musk and others, as the world's richest man discussed the possibility of future life on Mars but remained silent on Twitter.

'It just appears to be an absolute mess,' said one senior media executive, who requested anonymity ahead of the interview. 'He makes his own rules...' I'd hate to be on Twitter and have to take this guy seriously.'

Sun Valley is usually covered like an athleisure version of the Met Gala, with photographers capturing the arrivals of fleece-clad media moguls and reporters noting power-lunches at the property's Konditorei cafe.

This year's five-day, invite-only conference will be held in a tiny town of 1,500 people on the outskirts of Idaho's Sawtooth National Forest from July 6 to 10.

On Friday, one Hollywood power broker expressed hope that Musk's interview would liven up the conference's staid, cerebral atmosphere this year.

Following Musk's announcement, one CEO pointed out the elephant in the room: Saturday's remarks might make Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal uncomfortable.

Musk's final public message to Agrawal was a poop emoji tweet in response to the Twitter CEO's defense of how the company accounts for spam bots.

It is unclear whether Musk met Agrawal or Segal at the Idaho event.

Musk's attorneys had delivered an eight-page letter to Twitter, announcing his intention to cancel the acquisition of the social network.

According to the document, which was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Twitter failed to respond to repeated requests for information over the past two months, or to obtain his consent before taking actions that would have an impact on its business, such as firing two key executives.

Experts speculated that the move was made to reduce the price. Musk offered $54.20 per share in April, but the price had dropped to $36.81 on Friday night.

Twitter's chairman, Bret Taylor, tweeted on Friday that the board was "committed to closing the transaction" under the current terms of the deal and that they were "confident" they would win.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal arrived in Idaho on Wednesday with his wife, Vineeta.

Musk's attorney, Mike Ringler, claimed Twitter was in material breach of multiple provisions of the agreement.

'Mr. Musk is terminating the Merger Agreement because Twitter is in material breach of multiple provisions of that Agreement, appears to have made false and misleading representations on which Mr. Musk relied when entering into the Merger Agreement, and is likely to suffer a Company Material Adverse Effect,' Ringler wrote in the documents filed with the SEC.

'While Section 6.4 of the Merger Agreement requires Twitter to provide all data and information requested by Mr. Musk and his advisors 'for any reasonable business purpose related to the consummation of the transaction,' Twitter has not met its contractual obligations.

Mr. Musk has been looking for data and information for nearly two months in order to'make an independent assessment of the prevalence of fake or spam accounts on Twitter's platform.'

'This information is critical to Twitter's business and financial performance and is required to complete the transactions contemplated by the Merger Agreement because it is required to ensure Twitter's satisfaction of the closing conditions, to facilitate Mr. Musk's financing and financial planning for the transaction, and to engage in business transition planning.'

'Twitter has failed to provide this information or has refused to provide it.' Twitter has sometimes ignored Mr. Musk's requests, sometimes rejected them for reasons that appear to be unjustified, and sometimes claimed to comply while providing Mr. Musk with incomplete or useless information.'

Musk had previously threatened to halt the transaction unless the company could demonstrate that spam and bot accounts constituted less than 5% of users who saw advertising on the social media service.

<img src="/uploads/2022/07/12/58471399-11005013-Musk_appears_relaxed_over_the_tumultuous_deal_Prior_to_the_confe-a-2_1657614247013.jpg" alt="Musk seems calm about the agreement.
Musk seems calm about the agreement. Before the conference, he was in the South of France with Natasha Bassett.

Twitter, on the other hand, immediately threatened legal action and stated that it was confident of victory.

'The Twitter Board is committed to closing the transaction on the price and terms agreed upon with Mr. Musk and plans to pursue legal action to enforce the merger agreement,' Taylor said in a tweet.

'We are confident that we will prevail in the Delaware Court of Chancery,' says the firm. CEO Agrawal later retweeted that message.

'The Delaware courts do a pretty good job of balancing shareholder and corporate interests,' Adam Sterling told DailyMail.com.

'Twitter has consistently found itself in difficult positions here,' he added. With Elon attempting to terminate the deal, I believe they are obligated to take legal action against him under their fiduciary obligations to their shareholders. Everything is shocking but not surprising.'

Twitter's general counsel reportedly stated in an internal memo, 'Given this is an ongoing legal matter, you should refrain from Tweeting, Slacking, or sharing any commentary about the Merger Agreement.'

An anonymous Twitter employee told NBC News about the failed deal that Musk had 'f**ked destroyed the company.'

In between events in the Riviera hotspot, the two spoke, drank wine, and ate fries.

'I guess it feels like we won,' said the employee. However, it feels like the ending of the film, with the characters bloodied and bedraggled and a Michael Bay explosion behind them. We could see it coming, but in the meantime, he's f**ked up the company.'

During an all-hands meeting with employees in April, Agrawal attempted to appease workers after they demanded answers about how managers planned to handle a mass exodus prompted by Musk.

If the Musk deal went through, Agrawal would earn $42 million.

Musk's decision is likely to spark a protracted legal battle between the billionaire and the San Francisco-based company, which is 16 years old.

Rather than a judge ordering that a transaction be completed, disputed mergers and acquisitions in Delaware courts usually result in the companies renegotiating deals or the acquirer paying the target a settlement to walk away.

This is due to the fact that target companies are frequently eager to resolve the uncertainty surrounding their future and move on.

According to a person familiar with the situation, Twitter is hoping that court proceedings will begin in a few weeks and be resolved in a few months.

There is plenty of precedent for renegotiating a contract. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in 2020, causing a global economic shock, several companies repriced agreed-upon acquisitions.

In one case, French retailer LVMH threatened to cancel a deal with Tiffany & Co. The jewelry retailer in the United States agreed to reduce the acquisition price by $425 million to $15.8 billion.

<img src="/uploads/2022/07/12/56427203-11005013-Musk_is_currently_embroiled_in_a_months_long_deal_to_buy_Silicon-a-18_1657618334037.jpg" alt="Musk is negotiating to buy Twitter for $44 billion.
Musk is negotiating to buy Twitter for $44 billion. His anti-remote views may clash with the company's more lenient policies.

'I'd say Twitter is well-positioned legally to argue that it provided him with all of the necessary information,' said Ann Lipton, associate dean for faculty research at Tulane Law School.

Twitter shares were down 6% in extended trading, closing at $34.58. This is 36% less than the $54.20 per share Musk agreed to pay for Twitter in April.

Twitter's stock rose after Musk bought a stake in the company in early April, shielding it from a stock market sell-off that hit other social media platforms.

However, after agreeing to buy Twitter on April 25, the stock began to fall within days as investors speculated Musk might back out of the deal. Twitter was trading at its lowest level since March after the bell on Friday.

The announcement is the latest twist in Musk's will-he-won't-he saga, which began in April when Musk agreed to buy Twitter but then put the deal on hold until the social media company demonstrated that spam bots account for less than 5% of its total users.

The contract requires Musk to pay Twitter a $1 billion break-up fee if he is unable to complete the transaction due to factors such as acquisition financing falling through or regulatory obstacles. The break-up fee, however, would not apply if Musk terminated the agreement on his own.

Musk's withdrawal from the deal, combined with Twitter's promise to fight hard to complete it, casts a pall of uncertainty over the company's future and stock price at a time when concerns about rising interest rates and a potential recession have hammered Wall Street.

Alphabet, Meta Platforms, Snap, and Pinterest's shares have dropped 45 percent on average in 2022, while Twitter's stock has dropped only 15 percent in that time, boosted in recent months by the Musk deal.

Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives said Musk's filing was bad news for Twitter.

'This is a disaster scenario for Twitter and its Board, as the company will now battle Musk in an arduous legal battle to recoup the deal and/or the $1 billion breakup fee at a minimum,' he wrote in a note to clients.

(CNN) — The docuseries has become a breeding ground for strange sects and outlandish personalities, and HBO's "The Anarchists" fits right in.

This six-part project, which has a Fyre Festival vibe to it, is a mostly fascinating trip down a very specific rabbit hole, assuming you can stomach the steady diet of took-one-political-science-class psychobabble that comes with it.

Indeed, the great irony of a show like "The Anarchists" is that it focuses on people who smugly believe their way of life is vastly superior to that of the rubes who conform to societal norms, only to end up feeding a sense of superiority among those watching in the television equivalent of craning one's neck to see an accident.

Todd Schramke's film Anarchapulco, which spans six years, provides a window into an event known as Anarchapulco, a gathering of those who advocate anarchy and achieving a "state of self-rule," one that does not recognize governments and questions laws.

As one might expect, those drawn to such a philosophy tend to be eccentric, pitting many of those who chose to settle in Mexico to pursue this life against one another and turning the event that spawned it into "this haven for crazy people," as member Lisa Freeman puts it.

The byproducts of that acrimony and chaos take the story in various directions, from crypto currency investment – and an entity known as BitClub, which was charged in 2019 with being a Ponzi scheme – to an unexplained murder and fears of a volatile participant who appeared capable of violence.

"Not all anarchists are going to like each other and get along," says Lily Forester, a member whose name demonstrates a gift for understatement given that the entire point is predicated on marching to one's own drummer, making this an inordinately difficult group of cats to herd.

Schramke does a good job of explaining the origins of the anarchist impulse and how all roads lead to author Ayn Rand, whose books and celebration of individualism have resonated over the years. More broadly, it speaks to how colorful hucksters can find useful platforms for their views, as evidenced by snippets of superficial media coverage received by Anarchapulco and its participants.

Perhaps inevitably, the stranger "The Anarchists" becomes, the more compelling it becomes, much like "Q: Into the Storm." At one point, founder Jeff Berwick gives a straight-faced discussion of portals to other dimensions, which sounds suspiciously like a detour into the Marvel Anarchic Universe.

Finally, the film serves as a clear cautionary tale about the allure of nonconformist movements that necessitate cooperation among people who aren't inclined to trust anyone, including themselves.

"We wanted to fight the government at first, but we ended up fighting ourselves," Berwick admits.

While turning that conflict into entertainment may not be admirable, when it comes to the type of train-wreck documentary fare that garners a lot of attention, well, we didn't make the rules.

"The Anarchists" premieres on HBO on July 10 at 10 p.m. ET, which, like CNN, is a division of Warner Bros. Discovery.

Thor: Love and Thunder appeared to be Taika Waititi's victory lap, with a rock n' roll soundtrack and a slew of renowned performers. Following the failure of Alan Taylor's Thor: The Dark World in 2013, this charismatic writer/director/actor not only transformed the title God of Thunder into an adorkable himbo for Thor: Ragnarok, but also cast himself as the endearing rock monster Korg. Waititi also added thirst trapping to the MCU via a strapped Valkyrie, a bare Hulk, and Jeff Goldblum, a long-established sex icon. Fans would have hoped for more of the same in Waititi's follow-up. But, while many of our favorite characters return in this fourth installment, the excitement is gone. Thor: Love and Thunder is a jumbled mess that can't figure out what's important.

Thor: Love and Thunder, co-written by Taika Waititi and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, opens up with the titular Avenger gallivanting around space with the Guardians of the Galaxy, stretching his massive biceps for good and escaping from the sorrow of his long-ago break-up with human scientist Dr. Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). That is, until Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale in the role of Voldemort) lands on New Asgard with shadow animals in tow, stealing a slew of Asgardian children along the way to launch his war against the gods.

It's difficult enough to run into an ex, but Thor is disappointed to learn that Jane has a post-split glow-up thanks to Mjölnir magic. Jane is now Mighty Thor, and she can kick all kinds of monster butt. She is blonde, buff, and dressed in Viking gear. But, in order to put an end to Gorr's vengeance-fueled annihilation of all gods, these ex-partners will need to band together — and bring along some already established buddies, such as Korg (Waititi) and King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson).

Unfortunately, Thor: Love and Thunder doesn't have much time for fan-favorite characters among the obligatory action sequences, the introduction of new MCU entities, and the numerous flashbacks that painstakingly depict the frigid disintegration of Thor and Jane's once-piping hot passion. Korg and Valkyrie are both painfully shelved to make place for Jane, Thor, and Gorr, but even those key stories seem underdeveloped.

The odd pair dynamic of Thor and Jane does not work here.

Thor's irresistible chemistry was between the arrogant jock deity and the brainy yet gorgeous scientist. Even though Hemsworth goes nude and Jane has a seductive new appearance, the sexual spark is dimmed in this film. Their moments together lack fire and feel more like teens trying to flirt than worldwide sex symbols/immortal gods finding their spark.

Perhaps the issue is that Jane and Thor are set up for polar opposite tones throughout the picture. Thor is jumping from one adventure to the next with the enthusiasm of a Golden Retriever, bringing with him a silly charm that would fit perfectly with any of Waititi's prior efforts. Meanwhile, Jane is going through a comic-book-inspired arc about mortality and sickness. Jane's sad plot colliding with Thor's whole bargain is jarring throughout, never allowing the audience to relax and enjoy the trip. However, this is only one aspect of the film's discomfort.

Gorr, an underappreciated MCU villain.

With Loki, Thor delivered fans the first MCU villain we couldn't help but root for, but Gorr has a fairly legitimate complaint - albeit, like Black Panther's Killmonger, Gorr's answer is pretty overboard. Thor: Love and Thunder, you see, does not begin with entertaining Thor pranks. The film begins with an emaciated Gorr urgently dragging his dying daughter through a burned desert. Only when she dies in his arms does he find refuge in a verdant oasis, where the deity Gorr worshiped sits and laughs at his plight. So Gorr murders his deity. Then he goes on a killing spree.

Because of a rush of ambiguous distress calls, we're supposed to conclude this is all terrible news. But what distinguishes Gorr's journey from that of the Avengers, Guardians, or Eternals when they defeated Loki, Hela, Ego, or Arishem? Even in Thor: Love and Thunder, there are gods that are either cartoonishly evil or callously heartless. However, there is no room to investigate Gorr's mission's possible moral ambiguity. It's just cursed vengeance brought on by grief. Even with such constraints, Bale gives an outstanding performance.

While others frolic or smolder for the camera, Bale drips with misery and a perverse glee in bringing down the gods who would turn mere humans into playthings. His tiny smile exudes an exhilarating danger. But the greatest part is when he transforms into a hellish kids' show presenter, decapitating a snake monster and using it as a puppet to terrify the children he's stolen. Bale adds color and a twisted suggestion of a loving father whose soul has been wounded by grief to a dismal cell on the dark side of the cosmos. Waititi offers us enough to chew on here, but Bale's screen time is far too limited.

After all, there must be space to witness the dreary flashbacks of Jane and Thor's tepid seclusion of loves. Forget the drama of Marriage Story. Their lengthy, inexplicable split carries the emotional weight of a damp napkin.

Crowe is wonderful fun as Zeus, with his barrel chest, beard, and roaring about orgies. Crowe had me at "Babycakes" when he called Thor in a heavy Greek accent. Crowe doesn't mind portraying an over-the-top villain, whether in Virtuosity or Winter's Tale. Here, he outshines even Hemsworth in confidence, serving as a refreshing reminder of how much fun a Thor film can be. Unfortunately, Crowe is not given much to do in his debut MCU appearance.

Other brief but enjoyable features include bringing back the Asgardian theatrical group (Matt Damon, Luke Hemsworth, and Sam Neill) as a smart recapping device, a soundtrack pounding with Guns N' Roses, and a Jean-Claude Van Damme-style split with a God of Thunder extravaganza. Thompson is underutilized, yet in a few sequences, she smirks and sizzles. During the Zeus phase, there's also a slew of brilliant gods on exhibit. While they are compelling in their intricacies, designs, and cultural inclusion, the blink-and-you'll-miss-them aspect of this sequence points to the sloppy approach that makes the picture immensely irritating, as it is replete with missed possibilities.

Waititi packs so much into Thor: Love and Thunder that we're supposed to be amazed by the crazy (CGI) stunts, attractive actors, heroic spectacle, and out-of-the-blue wackiness of screaming goats and a jealous warhammer. These dazzling pieces, however, are thrown together rather than weaved together. The storytelling is sloppy and inept, making the emotional beats appear clunky. The characters are abandoned. The conclusion is a rush of ideas but little thinking, culminating to a groan-worthy epilogue that drags our himbo hero into a new chapter that belongs in corny '80s comedies, not film.

Waititi gave us a funny hottie in Thor: Ragnarok who set hearts (and loins) on fire. With Thor: Love and Thunder, he seems to promise more of the same, but squelches an epic romance, loads the picture with maudlin moments that feel hurried and unresolved, and never really delivers a great punchline. In the end, Love and Thunder is boisterous, dazzling, and vapid, with no satisfying enjoyment.

As Bleeding Cool pointed out last month, today's Poison Ivy #2 builds on her newfound celebrity. Pamela not only refers to herself as a carnivore in today's Poison Ivy, but she also dismisses vegetarians. Before murdering a diner full of people, including children, simply for being alive. And plotting to murder... everyone. That's why, according to Bleeding Cool, Poison Ivy is worse than Thanos for Earth.

Bleeding Cool has previously discussed the contrast in how DC Comics depicts Poison Ivy, whether as a typical Batman villain, an environmental terrorist with a cause, or a homosexual selfless savior attempting to rescue mankind. But can anybody recover from several murders, like the character is now committing in the first issue alone?

How long will it take Poison Ivy to recover from becoming a child killer, given how long it took Hank Pym to recover from being the superhero who struck his wife, Janet Van Dyne?

Before the story began, Ivy paid a visit to the Fluronic Man, who gave her the mutated fungus. Poison Ivy, like the Fluronic Man, has most likely been forced out of the Green. She may now be possessed by The Grey, the personification of the fungal world in the DC Universe, who has transformed her into an agent of The Grey or The Rot, and this may be used as a mitigating factor. But deceased children are difficult to overcome...

Yes, she is currently eating meat. She is, indeed, identifying herself as a carnivorous. That carnivores are necessary for the survival of the world is justification for what she is doing to humans. And, in that unpleasant way, points out how many animals are harmed by the harvesting of agave syrup for "wealthy vegans," labeling it "murder syrup." As though two wrongs equal one right. And that includes murdering children, vegan or otherwise...

Especially since many vegans do not consume agave syrup. Many, if not most, vegans and vegetarians are not wealthy, especially given their prevalence in India (about 30% of the population). The most common usage for agave syrup is in the production of tequila and as a biofuel. Rather from focusing on capitalist exploitation as fuel, which would be a typical Poison Ivy focus, she instead throws vegans under the tractor to justify no longer being a vegan but a carnivore.

Poison Ivy is one of DC's few prominent vegetarian/vegan characters, while Superman is not. She has also become the vegan poster girl in DC. I'm curious how this will play out. We chose the Thanos connection because she appears to be acting like a crazy God, an eco-terrorist who has utterly lost the plot. She is aware that she is dying and is taking as many other people with her as possible, maybe the entire globe.

Meanwhile, singer Macy Gray claims that "changing your [body] parts does not make you a woman," and JK Rowling appears to agree.

Bette Midler provoked outrage after stating cisgender women are being denied basic rights, while JK Rowling appeared to support singer Macy Gray's "transphobic" remarks.

Cisgender people have a sense of personal identity and gender that matches to their natal sex.

"WOMEN OF THE WORLD!" tweeted the Hollywood actress. We are losing control over our bodies, our lives, and even our names! " They no longer refer to us as "women," but rather as "birthing individuals," "menstruators," and even "people with vaginas"! Don't let them destroy your existence! Every individual on the planet owes you!"

Midler, a frequent tweeter with over two million followers, has faced blowback on social media, with some admirers encouraging her to "do better."

"This is a horrible take, Bette!!!" said one Twitter user. Not all women have vaginal organs, and not all persons with vaginal organs are female!! Please incorporate trans people in your feminism or it will be meaningless!"

Panti Bliss, an Irish drag queen and campaigner, urged: "No. Don't believe the anti-trans fear crap. Women are not being erased. Trans inclusive language is being used in a few modest healthcare settings where it is acceptable. That's it."

"It's because not just women menstruate, give birth, or have vaginas," another enthusiast explained. Trans males, like non-binary people, do all of these things. Bette, I adore you, but you have to do better here."

In response to the recent removal of abortion rights in the United States, one Twitter user stated, "Trans people did not overturn Roe V Wade." Trans people are among the most pro-choice populations you'll ever meet, since body autonomy in medical treatment is critical to trans life. They are not your adversaries."

Bette Midler dressed up as... herself - when she played Winifred Sanderson
in the 1993 Disney film Hocus Pocus

"Bette you started your career in bathhouses and were at like the first Prides... you should know better than this tweet which demonises trans people for no reason," one person said of the actress.

Others, though, responded to Midler's statement, with one simply writing "Amen!" and another commenting, "Now THIS is a July 4th message I can truly rally around!"

Macy Gray enters the fray...

Meanwhile, earlier this week, artist Macy Gray sparked a similar uproar when addressing trans rights with Piers Morgan on his Talk TV show Uncensored.

When asked about it, Gray told Morgan, "I'm going to say this and everyone's going to hate me, but just because you go alter your [body] parts doesn't make you a woman, sorry."

Many followers have expressed their dissatisfaction with Gray's opinions on social media, with one Twitter user writing: "Macy Gray has a right to her viewpoint. It's dumb, prejudiced, Transphobic, out of date, and completely uninformed, but she has a right to it."

In the midst of the reaction, others rallied to the singer's defense, including Morgan, who tweeted: "Macy Gray, as she anticipated, is already being attacked, persecuted, shamed, and labelled 'transphobic' by the typical disgusting, cruel mob who target women who support women's rights."

...as well as JK Rowling.

JK Rowling, who is no stranger to the gender issue, supported the singer's sentiments on Twitter, adding, "Today feels like a good day to guarantee I've bought @MacyGraysLife's complete back catalogue."

Rowling's 2020 tweet, in which she described women as "those who menstruate," sparked heated controversy and charges of anti-trans prejudice.

Midler, widely known for her work in films such as Hocus Pocus and Beaches, has already raised eyebrows on social media for allegedly transphobic remarks.

She previously apologized for a now-deleted post in which she asked Caitlyn Jenner whether she would go back in time and marrying Kardashian grandmother Kris Jenner under her prior identity.

She stated at the time that she had "misread the mood of the times."

Midler has yet to reply to her most recent Twitter outburst.

Throughout The Boys' third season, Vought International has posted a number of similar in-universe tweets. Following a statement congratulating Starlight on "setting a record for most followed hero on Instagram ever with 193M, more than notable celebrities like Seth Rogen," the company issued a statement regarding accusations leveled against Vought by Erin Moriarty's character in the "Herogasm" episode. "The recent accusations made by Annie January, codename Starlight, on a recent social media livestream do not reflect Vought International as a whole," according to the post. "Vought assures our shareholders that we will fight these false allegations with the full force of the American legal system. We can also confirm that January has been fired and her position as co-captain of The Seven has been revoked, effective immediately."

The Boys debuted on Amazon Prime Video in 2019. The Boys, based on the comic series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, follows a group of vigilantes, Hughie (Jack), Butcher (Karl Urban), Frenchie (Tomer Capone), Mother's Milk (Laz Alonso), and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), as they declare war on Vought's powerful team of heroes. The Boys, created by Eric Kripke, is nearing the end of its third season, with the season finale, "The Instant White-Hot Wild," set to be released on July 8. Amazon officially renewed the show for a fourth season in June. Urban recently revealed that filming for the new season will begin in August.

The final episode of The Boys Season 3 will be available on Prime Video on Friday.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured a diverse cast of villains for the sorcerer to face, but one did not make the final cut. Now, author Michael Waldron explains why Nightmare was cut from the original script.

The long-awaited sequel follows Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange through the alternate realities of the multiverse as he tries to protect teenager America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) from enemies seeking to steal her dimension-hopping powers and wreak havoc on several universes.

The film featured a slew of antagonists, including the octopus alien Gargantos, the evil Strange corrupted by the Darkhold, and, of course, the Scarlet Witch. Waldron, who spoke with Den of Geek, explained why Nightmare was eventually cut from the script. "There was a variety of things. I believe there was some talk about Nightmare and other such things once upon a time. But when I arrived, it was a Multiverse story. "So it was always about figuring out who that multiversal adversary was going to be," Waldron explained. Waldron joined the sequel in 2020, hoping to work through the script that former director Scott Derrickson and writer Jade Barlett had already written. However, due to the numerous delays and setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, he and Sam Raimi decided it was time to start over.

Nightmare, a demon who rules over the Dream Dimension, is one of Marvel's most dangerous characters, capable of bringing someone's astral form out of their physical body to torture them. While this would have fit the dream walking concept presented in the film, numerous setbacks, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home sharing a release date with Doctor Strange 2, forced the sequel to rework many story elements. As a result, there simply wasn't enough space to accommodate such a character while dealing with so many other multiverse storylines. However, as the MCU continues to grow, Nightmare's appearance in the future cannot be ruled out.

Critics generally praised the 29th MCU film, with many praising director Raimi's unique vision and performances while others criticized the pacing and writing. The film also stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, and Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West, in addition to Cumberbatch in the lead role.

A mock-up of Tenoch Huerta's Namor the Sub-Mariner appeared shortly after prospective villain Attuma was shown in all of his Atlantean magnificence. Needless to say, the MCU fans were ecstatic to see the fan favorite finally come to life (and looking adequately badass in the process), but it didn't take long for the situation to descend into Marvel vs. DC tribalism.

Of course, that's to be anticipated when Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry returns to our screens in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom next year, and if the intense argument on Reddit is to be believed, the superhero genre will not rest until one comic book ruler of Atlantis is declared superior to the other.

Aquaman has the advantage of being the highest-grossing DC adaptation ever filmed, but we're all anticipating Namor to be the main enemy in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Merch is frequently how the gradual drip-feeding of information about a high-profile project begins, but with less than three weeks before San Diego Comic-Con, it would be prudent to hedge our bets on official photos or footage being shown to the audience when Marvel takes the stage in Hall H.

We made it to the conclusion of Stranger Things season 4 somehow, and there is simply SO much to speak about!

The final two episodes of the thrilling new series arrived on Netflix early this morning, and many committed fans chose to do an all-nighter to ensure they didn't miss a beat.

We expected more death this time around, as hinted by actor Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers. But who exactly perishes in Stranger Things season 4 volume 2? Many fans were terrified for Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) survival as they watched the new episodes.

Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 spoilers follow.

Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 begins with Eleven remaining at Dr. Owens' (Paul Reiser) lab, having recently relived what occurred to her and Number One (Jamie Campbell Bower) in the Rainbow Room at Hawkins Lab. It's a lot of information to take in, but Eleven is concerned about one thing. She wants to check up on her buddies in Hawkins.

Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) and Dr. Owens explain everything to her, and she decides she must go and assist them. But there are a few obstacles. Brenner, for one, does not want her to leave. And he's ready to go to extraordinary measures to ensure she doesn't.

Is Eleven killed off in Stranger Things 4?

We may all breathe a sigh of relief, though, since Eleven does not die in Stranger Things season 4 volume 2. But it comes close. Brenner injects her with something in episode 8, "Papa," to prevent her from leaving the facility. Dr. Brenner pulls her outside when she falls out, but as they're out of the lab, there's soldiers everywhere. They shoot at them from a helicopter, and they even take out Brenner. They are given permission to shoot and murder Eleven, but she awakens in time and prevents this from happening.

Instead, Eleven uses her talents to crash and explode the chopper. It's a HUGE explosion, indicating that her abilities have returned in full force.

Of course, this isn't Eleven's only perilous position in Season 4 Volume 2. To assist her companions in Hawkins, she figures she can battle Vecna if she enters Max's (Sadie Sink) head and piggybacks on him. She is in a possibly life-threatening scenario, yet she is unconcerned. She desires to fight.

In episode 9, "The Piggyback," she and Max are trapped in the Upside Down under Vecna's influence, and just when it appears that both characters would perish, something unexpected happens. In the actual world, Will encourages Mike (Finn Wolfhard) to speak with Eleven, reminding her of how magnificent and powerful she can be. As a result, she gains power and momentarily defeats Vecna, albeit she does not kill him. When she does this, she saves herself and others, but it's a tight call for Max.

Max is still alive at the end of Stranger Things season 4, but she is in a coma. Eleven comes to her rescue, and we hope to see Max again in season 5.

Stranger Things season 4 is now available on Netflix in all nine episodes. And there's more wonderful news! Season 5 of Stranger Things is in the works.

Music NFTs: They were supposed to be more equitable for artists and their fans, yet the opposite has occurred. According to Obie Fernandez, CEO of RCRDSHP, here is the solution.

The prospect of a more democratic, decentralized future for the music industry enticed innovators, musicians, and consumers. Artists are paid fractions of a cent per stream on Web2 sites like Spotify and YouTube, with little to no control over how their music is utilized or marketed. Simultaneously, industry insiders profit from the labor of working artists, frequently with little to no transparency.

Certain music blockchain firms hope to leverage the technology to enable musicians to bypass middlemen, interact directly with fans, and earn a higher percentage of revenue earned by their music. NFTs (non-fungible tokens) have the potential to significantly increase artists' control over how their music is used, disseminated, and monetized. NFTs have the potential to transform the music industry, making it more equitable and sustainable for artists, but little has happened thus far.

Music non-profit organizations have not lived up to their promise of democratization.

Historically, music NFTs have benefited a small number of wealthy artists and investors at the expense of the bulk of music fans and creators.

The most successful music NFTs are frequently too expensive for popular music consumers, particularly those from underdeveloped countries. Last year, the relatively well-known EDM singer 3LAU sold $11.6 million worth of NFTs to initiate the music NFT boom, but the prices of the goods he sold made them unaffordable to all but the wealthiest collectors. Kings of Leon earned more than $2 million through the sale of an NFT collection comprised of items ranging in price from $95 to $250.

Clearly, we are in the early stages of NFT adoption. Whether their concerns are warranted or not, thousands of fans are repulsed by the whole notion of combining crypto and music. As a result, it's unsurprising that the vast majority of professional artists are still not profiting from NFTs. According to a new Vice investigation, the NFT economy is just as unfair as the traditional music industry and its pop stars, with a small number of artists and investors disproportionately benefiting.

While some may argue that around three-quarters of all music NFTs are sold for less than $15, unreasonably high gas rates on the Ethereum blockchain make participation difficult for smaller musicians and their followers. Despite recent advancements, it is safe to assume that the majority of successful music NFTs are purchased and sold by a small number of affluent crypto speculators with little to no ties to the music industry.

Increasing the severity of existing inequalities

According to Iris Nevins, an entrepreneur who supports black non-traditional artists, "much income inequality exists along gender, racial, and ethnic lines."

Nevins is referring to the fact that the music industry has historically been inequitable, with women and people of color being disproportionately disadvantaged in terms of chances and income. This imbalance is now being mirrored in the non-financial telecommunications business. For instance, some statistics indicate that men sell up to 77 percent of NFTs.

Even the artwork displayed in NFTs has begun to stratify according to race and gender, with certain digital assets becoming suspiciously more valuable than others. The possible issue was addressed in a recent Bloomberg piece in which the prices of CryptoPunks — one of the first and most popular NFTs – were examined. The article discovered that on average, lighter-skinned CryptoPunks sold for more than those with darker skin. Male CryptoPunks, likewise, were selling for more than female CryptoPunks.

CryptoPunks

Numerous explanations exist for these pricing differences. It is possible that consumers are purchasing CryptoPunks that most closely resemble them or are perceived to be the most valuable. However, regardless of the explanation, it is evident that the digital world, like the physical world, is not immune to racism and sexism. And as NFTs gain popularity, these discrepancies are expected to become more evident.

Taking a step further, the metaverse - a virtual world in which users may create and inhabit avatars – is already taking shape. If these same biases persist in this new environment, the ramifications could be far-reaching. Instead of leveling the playing field, the metaverse may just duplicate and intensify current disparities.

It is critical to address these concerns immediately, before they become more established. Otherwise, the metaverse risks devolving into another another environment where the rich become richer and the disadvantaged become marginalized.

In the case of music, businesses should look for ways to further erase barriers between artists and fans. This is accomplished while maintaining a focus on developing a more inclusive NFT economy that benefits all stakeholders, not just the wealthy and popular.

Music NFTs: Achieving true democratization of music. It is conceivable to create NFT marketplaces that are open and inclusive to all music listeners and composers. For instance, RCRDSHP is a new music non-fungible token marketplace that was created with the express purpose of benefiting professional musicians and their combined millions of fans outside of the cryptocurrency world.

Affordability is central to the aim of RCRDSHP. The great majority of NFT-backed digital collectibles available on the marketplace are priced between $1 and $50 and can be purchased with a credit card, making them accessible to a global audience. Even with a small collection, fans can stake their memorabilia to generate passive money for their favorite artists. Artists incentivize staking by airdropping new artifacts, music, and live event tickets to their stakeholders, so establishing positive feedback loops.

In comparison to the majority of NFT marketplaces, RCRDSHP participants have much more to do than simply gamble on the value of their holdings. Burning, massing, mixing, and staking are all features that are enjoyable and accessible to the majority of players regardless of their economic condition. Burning NFTs adds scarcity to a collection and protects the holder's earnings. Massing enables holders to combine comparable assets to produce rarer NFTs, which they can then stake to generate a higher income for their artist.

A novel design.

The RCRDSHP game model aims to align the interests of artists and players in unique ways that go beyond hype-fueled speculation and greed. The crew attributes the project's direction to their roots in rave culture and their appreciation of P.L.U.R. (Peace Love Unity Respect). RCRDSHP's emphasis is unironically on music's spiritual ability to transform us all into better humans, making it a strange and remote outlier in the world of blockchain-related enterprises.

RCRDSHP aspires to influence good changes in the music industry by developing a more inclusive and accessible NFT marketplace with an authentic heart. Our vision is a more equitable and sustainable economy for artists and their fans.

The significant announcement on Internet Computer's NFT platform serves as a catalyst.

To say that Internet Computer's (ICP-USD) beginnings were turbulent is an understatement. The ICP cryptocurrency was tipped to be the next big thing in crypto, bringing blockchain technology up to internet speeds. Regrettably, the coin did not achieve the level of popularity predicted. However, the project has made a significant turnaround in recent months and has began a lengthy push back toward the world's largest projects. Is a fresh pivot into non-fungible tokens (NFTs) capable of assisting it in accomplishing this goal?

ICP Daily Chart

Internet Computer is a relatively new cryptocurrency venture, having launched only last year. The layer-1 network generated considerable excitement in the run-up to its launch; indeed, the Dfinity Foundation — which oversaw development of the network — expects Internet Computer to be the third major wave in cryptocurrency, following Bitcoin (BTC-USD) and Ethereum (ETH-USD), which significantly expanded the phenomenon's potential through decentralized applications and smart contracts.

The Internet Computer's claim to fame is its scalability and speed. Internet Computer's developers hail it as the world's first "infinitely scalable" blockchain network, enabling it to perform an infinite amount of transactions at internet speeds. It intends to use this scaling to establish itself as the Web 3.0's "global computer"; with unlimited scalability, it can support the world's internet demands and establish itself as a household name in technology.

With such a large promise and significant funding from Dfinity, the ICP generated considerable buzz prior to its unveiling. Indeed, when the coin launched, the network was so widely anticipated that it opened at a price of more than $400 dollars. However, nearly as swiftly as it began, the ICP cryptography broke. Prices plummeted from an all-time high of $750 to barely $30 per pair.

ICP Crypto Attempts a Resurrection, Beginning with Gigaverse Labs Minting

Since the network's dramatic decline, it has been looking for methods to reorganize and reclaim its previous glory. Now, the ICP cryptocurrency is attempting to do so via the burgeoning NFT market, courtesy of its own Gigaverse Labs minting launch.

Gigaverse Labs is the Internet Computer network's first official NFT marketplace. The platform enables users can create, purchase, and sell tokens on the ICP. Additionally, it is the network's first NFT bridge. It enables the transfer of NFTs from the Ethereum network to the Internet Computer.

Gigaverse made its debut in September of last year. That is when the first Internet Computer NFT collection, ICPunks, was launched. The 10,000 clown-themed NFTs sold out in minutes, demonstrating the network's potential in the space.

The platform has since launched several other collections, but this week marks a new catalyst. Gigaverse Labs is launching NFT minting on its platform tomorrow. Users will be able to create and sell their own Internet Computer-native NFTs. This is an exciting development; artists and creatives can now use the platform to produce their own coins.
Prior to the launch, ICP is trading sideways, with prices remaining stable. This is due to the market-wide sluggishness investors are currently experiencing. Meanwhile, trading volume continues to increase; $379 million worth of ICP is changing hands today, up 100% from yesterday.

With such a lofty goal and significant funding from Dfinity, the ICP generated much excitement prior to its introduction. Indeed, when the was first launched, it commanded an opening price of more than $400 dollars. However, the ICP crypto collapsed nearly as rapidly as it began. Prices plummeted from an all-time high of $750 to as little as $30 per piece.

Large-scale transactions on the Cardano blockchain have surged dramatically, as reported by IntoTheBlock.

This suggests an increase in demand from financial institutions. Whale sightings have also increased, according to Santiment. More over half of the addresses on the network, on the other hand, are in the red, which means they are losing money on ADA. What does this mean for the price of Cardano in the next weeks?

ADA daily chart

ADA's long-term market structure was bearish from September until early March, when it was in a significant downturn. Bitcoin's price has surged beyond $1 in recent weeks, breaking out of a descending wedge formation (white). In the past, the $1 level has served as both a technical and psychological barrier.

Source: TradingView

However, the bulls were able to break through this resistance, retest it, and go toward $1.26. By late December, the price had fallen to a bearish order block around $1.38 (seen in red).

If ADA is able to get over $1.26 and $1.4, the next target would be $1.6-$1.62 in the north.

Rationale

ADA Volume

Bullish trend and good demand have been reflected in recent weeks' indications. The RSI climbed to 73, but there was no sign of a bearish divergence on longer timeframes. Even more impressive was the rise in the Awesome Oscillator's value over the zero line. Bullish momentum was evident in both cases.

With a Chaikin Money Flow of 0.17, it was clear that demand had increased over the previous month. This has been accompanied by a spike in the OBV over the last few weeks. But this was not enough to break through the orange level, which was the OBV's most recent lower high.

Conclusion

Cardano's indicators indicated that there was room for more gains. It's also possible that huge market participants will quit the markets in the $1.26-$1.4 range just as retail enters on a wave of new enthusiasm. Long-term investors should be aware of the possibility that this is the exit point for a large decline.

Mariupol, as an interactive NFT, is a living work of art. It is composed of 13 distinct layers, each of which has between two and four distinct states. The master owner of Mariupol has the option of selecting one of these states as the final look.

Mariupol will be available to 14 collectors in the following configurations: one master NFT and 13 layer NFTs. The auction will be available to the public, and all proceeds will benefit Voices of Children, which provides psychological help to child conflict victims.

The NFT will be featured at the Non-Fungible Conference, which will take held in Lisbon, Portugal on April 4th and 5th. Numerous discussions, seminars, and workshops will be held during the event, which will also feature artworks by more than 100 artists. Mariupol will be featured on a huge screen at the event's center stage during the event.

Contributors and the Source of Inspiration

The Guild, an independent and decentralized artist-led group, oversaw the creation of the artwork. Along with members of The Guild, a contributing artist group included representatives from the Museum of Crypto Art and the Non-Fungible Conference. With its dynamic NFT technology, Async Art also contributed to the creation of Mariupol.

According to the artists, a significant inspiration was Picasso's Guernica, in which he conveyed the horrors of the 1937 bombardment of Guernica city. Mariupol similarly tries to portray the brutality of battle as a modern reworking of Guernica. Each contributing artist illustrated their perceptions of the war, in the hope that it serves as a lesson to avoid repeating history.

Founder of Non-Fungible Conference, John Karp, commented on the purpose of Mariupol and said:

“Like everyone on this continent, and in this world, I am horrified by the images we are getting from Ukraine of innocent civilians being bombed once again. The horror, disgust, and pain forces people to act.”

He further elaborated:

“It makes bystanders want to do something. I hope this artwork can be a testament to the power of community and collaboration and proof that, while there is still too much evil and suffering in this world, there is plenty of good left.”

"Metaverse" is a new word that people are talking about on the internet. People are excited about the idea of a 3D virtual world where people can work, play, and socialize. The term "metaverse" was first used by Neal Stephenson in his 1992 book "Snow Crash." After Facebook changed its name to "Meta" in October 2021, it became a lot more popular. The metaverse soon became a topic of conversation for many tech companies. They talked about what they thought the metaverse could do for them.

The metaverse has a lot of power to change the way online meetings and virtual events are run. This is because the metaverse is so immersive and flexible that it could be used to host events of any size and type, from small office meetings to large-scale meetings. When we meet in the future, we may choose to use virtual environments where we can talk to other people's avatars instead of traditional conferencing tools.

During this virtual world, how does value-added tax fit into the mix? In light of the growing popularity of metaverse events, there is a question about whether tickets to virtual events should be taxed like tickets to physical events, or if they should be taxed like any other digital service.

Service or event?

The European Union's VAT law says that "electronic services" are services that are delivered over the internet or on an electronic network and that are mostly automated, requiring little human intervention, and impossible without information technology.

Web-based events that require a lot of real-time human involvement from the organizers (like, say, a virtual conference with live sessions) aren't likely to qualify as this type of event. Online exhibition: This is an example of a virtual activity that could be a digital service. The organizer lets virtual users enter a certain virtual location but doesn't interact with them in real time. As far as VAT is concerned, it doesn't matter whether or not a live event would allow people to interact with each other in real time. The involvement of the supplier is what is important for VAT purposes.

The EU VAT law has a special rule for people who want to go to events. The question arises if this rule can also be used for an event that only happens in the metaverse. This is because this rule was originally made for physical events. The question is whether or not VAT can be charged on virtual activities.

The EU VAT law doesn't say what a "event." Fortunately, the Court of Justice of the European Union was able to give some help with this concept (CJEU). C-647/17: The CJEU ruled that "admission to events" is not the same as the right to go into a place. Instead, this term refers to the right to participate in an activity, like taking a course or going to a seminar. In other words, you don't need to go to a specific place to participate in an event; what matters is that you show up.

Advocate General Eleanor Sharpston also talked about some other characteristics of events in her opinion about the same case. These include events that are planned in advance, take place over a short period of time, and have a specific focus. This means that if metaverse events are short, uninterrupted, and planned in advance, they may be counted as events for EU VAT purposes, even if they aren't.

We now know that activities in the metaverse can be classified as either events or digital services from a VAT point of view. Let's take a closer look at how each category is taxed.

Treatment of digital services for tax

Digital services are taxed in the country where the customer is set up, has a permanent address or usually lives under EU VAT law. It doesn't matter if the customer gives the seller its VAT identification number (business-to-business, B2B, sale). The seller doesn't have to charge VAT because of the reverse charge mechanism. This means that the customer has to pay VAT on the sale.

If digital services are bought for private use (B2C, or business-to-consumer, sale), the seller needs to know where each customer is so that he or she can charge the correct tax rate. This could be done based on things like your billing address, bank account information, or IP address.

Treating Events as Taxed

In the current EU VAT rules, there is a special rule for admission to events. This rule says that admission to events is taxed in the country where the event is held. This rule may be easy to follow in the real world, but it doesn't seem to work well in virtual reality, which doesn't have a connection to a specific place where things happen.

As event organizers can be in a lot of different countries, it may be hard to figure out which one should be the place where the event takes place.

The European Union realized that virtual events are taxed the same way as physical events, which makes event organizers a lot more confused about the law. They came up with new rules that will have to be put into place by the member states by 2025.

It will now be easier to figure out how to tax virtual events under the new rules. They will not be sold in the country where they happen, but always in the country where the customer lives. This will make them more in line with how digital services are taxed. In B2B transactions, there will be no tax charged. In B2C sales, event organizers will charge tax at the rate of the customer country.

Conclusion

Companies that host virtual events will be happy to see the new rules. Once they are in place, it won't be necessary to go through a complicated process of figuring out where a virtual event takes place in the real world. People who pay to go to virtual events will have to pay taxes in their own home country, which is already the case for all kinds of digital services, like email.

MVFW, which took place on Decentraland from March 24-27, is now over. In addition to giving brands a chance to connect with younger people, the event also shows that the fashion industry is moving away from being exclusive and toward being more accessible.

MVFW, on the other hand, was seen as a kind of "simulacrum" of its physical counterparts in New York and London. It was set up in response to the growing demand for virtual clothing that has been sweeping the fashion world recently. One example: Virtue Worldwide recently did a survey and found that about one in three global respondents had already bought a piece of digital fashion. The overwhelming majority (94 percent) "foresee digital fashion becoming the norm."

Virtual fashion could be on the brink of becoming mainstream / Adobe Stock

A blurb on the Metaverse Fashion Week website says that "Metaverse Fashion Week is a first-of-its-kind event that showcases digital wearables." This is based off of New York Fashion Week. Tastemakers are in charge of Metaverse Fashion Week, which is run by experts in the metaverse and organized by fashion insiders. Metaverse Fashion Week connects top real-world fashion brands with digital wearables designers to bring luxury fashion into the metaverse.

A lot of high-end brands, who are always paying attention to technology and what people want, have started to invest a lot in the metaverse. MVFW had activations from big companies like Dolce & Gabbana, Estée Lauder, Tommy Hilfiger, and Forever 21.

One way to get to each of those virtual brand experiences was by clicking a link on the MVFW homepage that had an address and a set of coordinates in it. To get to Decentraland, you'd first have to choose your destination. If your computer can handle the intense amount of data processing that is needed, you'd be sent there after you made your choice. Decentraland's popularity is largely due to the fact that it can be accessed on a computer and doesn't need a virtual reality (VR) headset. However, it can cause computer crashes.

A creative technologist at Yahoo says the metaverse is the "future of broadcasting, the future of advertising, and the opportunities for brands to stay relevant." She also launched her own non-fungible token (NFT) collection at the MVFW show. Internet: "The future of the internet is going to be full of shared 3D virtual spaces where you can dress up your avatar, go in and experience fashion from some of the world's biggest fashion brands."

It wasn't just shopping that people could do at the event. There were also "afterparties," musical performances, interviews with experts, and, of course, runway shows at the event.

If you look at it this way, MVFW could be seen as a legitimate effort to "democratize" fashion by making a traditionally expensive and exclusive event (Fashion Week) available to a lot of people who wouldn't be able to go because of geography or money. The barriers in the world of real-life fashion aren't going away any time soon, but that doesn't mean they're going away. Is it possible to get a front-row seat at a Dolce & Gabbana show in real life? There is no way. "Only the rich can go to those shows." At the same time, she thinks the event moves the needle in the direction of both inclusivity and new ideas. If so, are people able to come in and dress their avatars with clothes from those fashion brands? Yes. And is that a good thing? Isn't that interesting? I think so, too.

Many people live in the metaverse, which is a big place. Also, it's very young. There isn't a single law that says how it should be used, and there are many different ideas about what it could become. There are some who think it will be a short-lived fad. Others, like Mark Zuckerberg, think that it will become the main place for people to interact with each other. Fashion brands don't know as much about this as anyone else, but they seem to think that, at least when it comes to fashion, the popularity of the metaverse will keep rising. It's possible that the infrastructure and attendance at future Metaverse Fashion Weeks could grow as more people want to wear virtual clothes.

On the "Bitcoin Magazine Podcast," Adam Back and Balaji Srinivasan look back on the early days of Bitcoin and talk about how people are now using Bitcoin more and more.

As he says, "I think we can see that Bitcoin is being used in Nigeria, India, and around the world." South America didn't need a lot of persuasion to get Bitcoin because currency crises were a common thing there and they still are a common thing there. He knows why people in those countries have been more interested in Bitcoin than people in other places.

When you see how far Bitcoin has come in such a short time, it can be a little weird. When it comes to the role of Bitcoin in the world, Srinivasan says that "on one level, you have to step back and realize that this thing was less than $1 billion and was just the dream of some people on a message board. Now, it has had an impact on every government in the world."

Hashcash was mentioned in the Bitcoin white paper. Back has been a part of Bitcoin since the beginning. A quote from Back: "It does seem like the adoption is being fostered and it's gaining acceptance with more people than we would have thought."

Back talks about the many announcements from institutions that are releasing products, governments that are clarifying rules, and city governments that are making policies to bring development to their area. "I think it's because there are so many open networks." People can do whatever they want with open networks because there are no rules. He says that even the internet can't keep up with the pace of new ideas. It will be interesting to see how quickly people start using it in the next few years.

People think the internet will become even more decentralized in the future, thanks to blockchain technology. Web 3.0 is a term for this.

It would be a change from the current ecosystem, which has a lot of big platforms and businesses that are centralized, say proponents. They say it would fix what's wrong with the internet today and also stop the decline of democracy.

In their view, what is wrong with today's internet? Web 3.0 is the most recent technology on the Internet. It combines machine learning, artificial intelligence, and blockchain to make it possible for people to communicate with each other in real time. When people use web 3.0, they not only own their data, but they can also get paid for the time they spend on the web.

A few technology companies are the most powerful in the current closed and controlled ecosystem. Meta and Amazon are two of them. These people act as gatekeepers or middlemen in people's digital lives in a lot of different ways. Even if someone comes up with a better product, competing against platforms with a critical mass of users is very hard because of the network effects of platforms with a critical mass of users.

These platforms make people who want to be fully part of society join. Their recommendation systems, product features, and community guidelines all have a big impact on what people buy and use every day, and the people who figure out how to best use them have a lot of power.

A single ecosystem also means that gatekeepers can collect and use a lot of personal data in ways that users don't have much say in. People who live in this kind of environment can't do anything to stop abuse, leaks of personal information, and strategies that use users' data for targeted advertising.

It's Web 3.0. and why is it so important for Data Privacy and Security to have this.

The pressure on platforms to design their services in a way that increases user engagement and tracking comes from this paradigm. Even though these design decisions may not always be in line with democratic norms or the public good, platforms are under pressure to make them.

Defenders say that Web 3.0 introduces structural changes that make the current online ecosystem's problems obsolete. Platforms and programs made on Web3 won't be owned by a single person, but by the people who use them, says Gavin Wood, who is known as the "Father of Web 3.0." If you use the same technology that makes cryptocurrencies work, you can do this.

In Web 3.0, there will be no need for big, private data centers. Instead, data will be stored and spread across many devices in a safe way. Anyone who has money and knows how to use this architecture can make their device a hub. Because data is no longer stored in one place, this design reduces the risk of huge data leaks.

Just in time for the start of the US tax season, Australian startup CryptoTaxCalculator (CTC) announced it has acquired seed money to further expand its automated crypto tax reporting tool into the US market.

CTC, based in Sydney, is one of several platforms that have gained prominence this year for assisting crypto traders with the complexity of tax reporting, however it is unique in that it is primarily focused on resolving issues experienced by users of decentralized exchanges.

If you're paying taxes on crypto you purchased or sold through a centralized crypto exchange such as Coinbase, Binance, or Gemini, determining how much you owe may be straightforward, as many of these exchanges provide a form outlining your trades, gains, and losses. However, for users of decentralized exchanges such as Uniswap or Curve, the procedure can be far more onerous — and this is where CTC comes in handy, according to co-founder and CEO Shane Brunette in an interview with TechCrunch.

CTC's workforce has increased from three full-time employees last autumn to over thirty today. According to the company, its platform now serves over 80,000 users, an increase of 1,700 percent over the last year. Brunette credits some of this increase to the increasing popularity of decentralized finance (DeFi), which CTC was built to serve due to its experience in decentralized transactions.

Unlike centralized exchange transactions, decentralized, on-chain transactions are not recorded by a trusted third-party mediator who can give a user with their transaction history for tax filing purposes, Brunette explained.

Brunette, who is a keen cryptocurrency trader himself, encountered these difficulties firsthand when he was required to submit taxes on his trading. He and his brother co-founded CTC, and they chose to launch the product on Reddit in 2018, he explained. According to Brunette, CTC first focused on integrating with decentralized apps built on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), but has subsequently expanded to integrate with more than 400 exchanges, as indicated on its website.

The company serves consumers in 21 different tax jurisdictions, with around 40% of users based in the United States and another 40% in Australia, Brunette said. He stated that a sizable chunk of CTC's US customers joined the platform more recently, particularly during the "DeFi summer" in mid-2020.

"You can think of something like the Ethereum network as a big accounting book that has all transactions dating all the way back to the dawn of time, as well as information on all participants and their activities on that particular chain. The issue is that it has been written in a very confusing manner from an accounting standpoint," Brunette explained.

CTC is fully integrated with the blockchains that support decentralized exchanges. Users need just to supply CTC with their public wallet address, and the platform aggregates all transactions and smart contracts associated with that wallet, basically reverse engineering the wallet's transaction history, Brunette explained.

While centralized exchanges have consolidated as the cryptocurrency sector matures, decentralized finance is expanding, and consolidation in that field cannot take place in the same way, Brunette explained.

"The issue that tax authorities face, for example, is how to ensure that individuals are tax compliant when there is no one present to subpoena or provide a transaction history for that individual. How are you going to keep track of all of this? And hence, I believe the US government's current strategy is to try to pass laws that supports the use of a financial middleman to give transaction history, which directly contradicts the crypto ethos," Brunette said.

Brunette created CTC with a sense of the widespread distrust many cryptocurrency users have regarding centralization and middlemen.

According to Brunette, the blockchain technology is "wonderful." While anyone can potentially inspect the transaction data kept on a blockchain, he added, having the appropriate tools to understand it is necessary.

"That is our primary focus — developing tools that enable an overview of all the different blockchains as well as the ability to pull in data from a centralized exchange, so you can get a clear path of an individual's transaction history and reconsolidate to arrive at a tax outcome," Brunette explained.

While CTC collects all of the data necessary to create a transaction history and performs tax calculations on behalf of its users, Brunette advises advanced crypto users to consult a tax professional to assist them in interpreting regulatory grey areas and determining what taxes they actually owe and which rules apply to their activity.

Brunette explained that the CTC does not provide "final" tax statistics, but rather aggregates information on what income is taxable.

"We provide lump sums to enable you to calculate your tax rate, et cetera, so it's really categorizing it. Thus, you've gained this amount by staking rewards – what do you intend to do with it? It is worthwhile to consult with a tax specialist and seek assistance," he stated.

The seed round raised a total of A$4 million (about $2.9 million in US dollars) for the previously self-funded startup. AirTree Ventures spearheaded the funding alongside Coinbase Ventures in the United States and 20VC, a fund run by podcaster Harry Stebbings in the United Kingdom.
